Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana has been called out for its "white privilege." Carmel is the wealthiest city in Indiana. The school has lovely grounds and excellent results. Meanwhile, in Baltimore, students attend dangerous **** holes - it's really just not fair, is it?

I mean, LOOK HOW MUCH THEY SPEND PER STUDENT! Is this okay? If Baltimore got that kind of money per student, they would probably have similar good results.

I have a feeling, if you looked at the per student spending of most failing or struggling school districts, you will find the problem isn't the level of funding...it's how that funding is spent.
Two decades ago I served on a select citizen committee to put together a bond package for our school district. The first night, the State Rep for the district, a rep for the Texas Education Agency and a rep from the National Education Association (the largest labor union in the US) spoke to us. The NEA rep kept going on and on about how education in Texas was underfunded. Finally, the elected State Rep asked him a simple question; "How much per student in classroom spending is necessary to give Texas students a top quality education?" The NEA rep looked at him with a blank stare and mumbled a few words trying to change the subject. If you do not know that level of funding for schools in your district, there is no way in hell you can know if the schools are receiving the correct level of funding. At the time, in Texas the best performing districts average just under 10% of the budget for "administration", our district used 8.9% for admin. That told us, if we can get bonds approved the district will use the money correctly.

What needs to happen is that property tax money should be paid to the state,and then divided EQUALLY among districts.
The first place I taught was in Eastern Lewis County, WA.The district was surrounded by Gifford Pinchot National Forest,and the Feds paid what was called"impacted forest service funds"to make up for the taxes, since private land holdings were tiny.
The result was that no one in the district paid any property taxes to support schools at all.
The State legislature decided to receive the impacted forest funds and redistribute them.
So the superintendent stopped teaching foreign languages, chemistry and physics closed the school library and did away with art and music.
I found a job paying $2000 more on the coast.

The truth is, we spend MORE money on africanized americans' educations, and we get worse results. Is this because of the mismanagement in democrat districts, or the low iq of blacks relative to whites, or some other cause? Wait - lemme guess. Slavery and jim crow.
