A Republican bill that would require a National Rifle Association gun safety course for Arizona middle- and high school students passed out of committee Monday evening. 

 The measure would require all Arizona schools to teach students about firearms safety at least once between sixth grade and the end of high school.

I agree as well... and before the anti-gunners pop in and say that allowing kids access to guns at school is stupid, understand that you can teach firearm safety without ever firing the firearm, so live ammo would not have to be present to teach the class.

I have thought about getting one of the laser target kits myself. They are pretty cool and keep you crisp without having to visit the range.

I’ve posted many times before when my boys were in Hs they had to take a gun safety course Hunting safety course.

It should go right along with firearms being licensed like a driver's license. Anyone can get one if you demonstrate proficiency.

I would hope the emphasis would be on safety. Guns in safes with trigger locks sounds good to me.
Mention of the likelihood increasing that one is going to commit suicide goes along with gun ownership might be mentioned as well. mentally incompetent or those contemplating suicide because they're depressed should not have access to firearms in my opinion.
I also like red flag laws. Someone who owns firearms and is uttering threats that are believable should be relieved of his firearms.
I do not want to take your guns.
I understand that rural people have special needs. My uncle ran a cattle operation outside Monroe Washington and he kept a rifle and a shotgun all the time. Home protection and vermin control.

Take it all around I think gun education might be a good idea. As it is we're turning people loose with guns with no training or safety indoctrination at all.

As long as the license is as easy and cheap to obtain and renew as a driver's license is, I got no problem with that.

The only thing I ever had against the CCP permits in my State was all the hoopla you had to go through to get and even keep one. They were nearly four times as expensive to renew and we're only good for two years instead of seven like a DL as well.

Also, if you ever let it expire, you had to take the training, get finger printed, pass the background checks and pay all the fees again, just like you had never had it in the first place. It was ridiculous.

Now, my State doesn't require a permit at all to concealed carry, which I don't necessarily agree with either.

I have always felt that, at a minimum, a general knowledge and proficiency test should be required to carry.

Too many idiots don't even know basic firearm safety these days, and it's not that they mean others harm, but damn, at least know what your doing before toting the damn thing around.

The target is small.  I am usually ten feet away.  I use it for my two Nines.  It is great for consistent trigger squeeze and shot groupings.  It also has time firing as well.
