AUSTIN — Five women who were denied abortions under Texas law while facing medical crises are suing the state, asking a judge to clarify exceptions to the laws.

"[The women] have been denied necessary and potentially life-saving obstetrical care because medical professionals throughout the state fear liability under Texas's abortion bans," says the lawsuit, filed in state court by the Center for Reproductive Rights on behalf of the five women and two doctors.

"Just because Roe v. Wade is no longer the law of the land does not mean that women and pregnant people are without constitutional and basic human rights," says Molly Duane, senior staff attorney with the center.

"We're talking about people who are in medical emergencies, who need urgent medical care and whose physicians are too scared to provide that care because of the state's laws and because of the state's failure to provide any clarification around what its law means."

One of these women was denied an abortion after her water broke at 19 weeks — too early for the fetus to survive.
Fearing the prospect of severe infection, she had to fly to Colorado for a termination.
Four of these five women had to go to another state to seek care for their medically complex pregnancies.
Somebody is going to die eventually and the blood will be on Greg Abbott's hands and the hands of the Texas legislature.

Nah. Plenty of Godless amoral liberals willing to transport them to an adjacent state to murder their children.

Weren't you in the medical field?
Do you really not understand that sometimes an abortion is medically necessary?
Do you also not understand that sometimes a fetus can die in the womb?
Do you expect a woman to have to carry around a dead fetus in her uterus?
All of these women were told that their fetuses would not survive, but they were not given the option of an abortion.

One of them had become pregnant after 18 months of fertility treatments so she obviously wanted her baby.
She had just entered her second trimester when she was told that she had dilated prematurely and that the loss of her fetus, whom she and her husband had named Willow, was "inevitable".
She was forced to wait until her body entered sepsis, also known as blood poisoning, and doctors were allowed to perform an abortion.

Is this really how you believe women deserve to be treated?

Very rarely a medical necessity. As in not even worth discussing. The fact they ALL safely made it to another state to murder their unborn child pretty much tells you these were NOT medical emergencies.

These anomalies can be expected. Banning abortion is the right thing to do. If the laws need to be tweaked for medical reasons, then so be it. However, banning abortion is a start to a more moral society.

Tell that to these five women in Texas and the many more in their predicament.

I guess you didn't bother to read anything I posted.
Some of the fetuses were already dead.
What do you think happens to a woman who is forced to carry around a dead fetus in her uterus?
Like one of the women who is suing Texas she can develop sepsis.

Riddle me this.....can people die from sepsis?

If the fetus is dead, it's not an abortion.   Just sayin'.
And the others?  Why didn't they use the law's exception for this?

"person may not knowingly perform, induce, or attempt an abortion unless the mother has 'a life-threatening physical condition aggravated by, caused by, or arising from a pregnancy that places [her] at risk of death or poses a serious risk of substantial impairment of a major bodily function unless the abortion is performed or induced."

1. That’s not a medical emergency if you can fly to a different state lol…

2. They would receive antibiotics to keep from sepsis as a prophylactic.

3. You should NEVER be able to force a medical professional to murder an unborn child to begin with.

That's right.
Who gives a **** if a bunch of women die or become infertile while they are waiting for the laws to be TWEAKED.

How about we implant a dead fetus in your belly and tell you that you have to carry it around for 9 months?
You might die from sepsis, you might not.
But I'm sure they'll have that law all TWEAKED before you die from having that rotting fetus inside of you.

Why do you keep telling this lie?

Abortions kill living babies.
Here's the definition:  the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus:

I am definitely right about your mental issues. You definitely have Borderline Personality Disorder. You check the DSM boxes.

I literally said that laws for medical reasons should be tweaked to accommodate that. God man. Why don't progressives ever read anything?

Half those murdered in abortion are statistically male. Or at least would be assigned male at birth. Who knows how many are trans. Are you transphobic?

I see you didn't read my post either. Go back and reread it, and you will see that you just made an *** of yourself. Again.

First of all it was a question not a statement of fact, and I only said it once, so I don't know why you said I keep doing it.

And secondly, you don't understand that a fetus can die within the womb and that the treatment for that is a D and C (Dilation and Curettage) IOW an abortion?

Have any of you pinheads actually gotten a woman pregnant?
None of you seem to know anything about this stuff.
