The US claims that the airspace over the Black Sea is open to all.
The Russians claim that they have imposed a "special limit" over this airspace.
So the US sends the drone in to insist on its refusal to accept any such special limits.
The Russian tries to disable the drone and it crashes.

This is about airspace over oceans and seas, not just in the Black Sea but also over the Taiwan Strait and other locations.
 

So we challenge the Russians about a conflict on air space, during a time of war, when Putin is clearly trigger happy with anything. Yeah, what could go wrong?

Precisely, nothing. We lost a drone.
Russia is not going to attack the US over a drone.

What did happen is that Putin showed the world that he doesn't fear Biden or the US. That was the point. Otherwise, he wouldn't have done anything.

Putin wants to play a low intensity game of chicken here. This has happened several times in Syria as well. Both side are playing chicken, and they have been doing this for years.

Those drones are expensive.   But I am sure the Russians have also lost equipment as well.

This is NOT a major development.

We can't compare Putin playing chicken with Syria versus the USA. Syria isn't a superpower. Nobody would blink an eye if those two went at it. However, we have an enormous military, and a government that has a long history of using it. America loves to find reasons to go to war, and that is not a partisan thing. Both sides do it. Putin showing the world that he doesn't fear America is much different than not fearing Syria.

Can anyone really blame Russia for what they did?
THEY are at war, we are not.  But if we're using our drones to provide intel information to Ukraine on where Russian troops are, what weapons they have in which areas, and where they have fortified their defenses, it's only logical that they would need to stop that to protect their own troops.

Biden is extremely overmatched in attempting to deal with Putin and everyone on both sides knows it, and I'll count ourselves as very lucky if his ignorance doesn't push us into a nuclear war!

Of all Israel's neighbors, Syria is the most dangerous. Egypt and Jordan were bought off by the US and the UK. Lebanon is a basket case and as close to a failed state as any in the region.  Assad is as horrible a person as Putin.

But this drone affair was just an example of Russia and the US testing one another. Was the Russian pilot acting non professionally?  I would not say that, he was doing what he was told to do. Military pilots obey orders.  I would be surprised if all the communications between the Russian pilot and Putin were intercepted by US intel.

No actual action will occur because of this. Just as the skirmishes the US and Russia have had in Syria, this was a mutual game of chicken.
Of course, the drone could have easily and deliberately collided with the Russian plane, but did not.

Being able to express a unpopular opinion tho... is what America is about.

Puke'n will fall soon.  RF will say he is to ill to govern anymore and that will be his way out with honor.

The story is the Russian fighter jet clipped the propellor??  Or did the fuel take it out?

Not sure I follow you but people say why are we defending other Counties.

Those bases are are American property all under the UCMJ or FED law for civilians.

With a weaken RF the world (and RF citizens) will be better off.

During the Clinton Administration after the fall of the Soviet Union, we made an agreement to protect Ukraine if they sent all nuclear weapons in their country to Russia.

Beyond that agreement.. This is a shoot out at the OK Corral between Autocracy and Democracy.  

As Cotton stated, Russia will not stop unlless something stops them.  The agression is unacceptable and cannot continue.

Ivan has air superiority....the USA / Sleepy Joe is sending advanced aircraft and they are getting tanks.

The reason they are kicking *** is because the RSA have been training them...it is obvious.

They have a few mistakes...they knew it might becoming so they should have been minding the **** out of the MSRs (main supply routes) 

Have the bridges ready blow up in a moment's notice....giant bombs in the ground to cut regrouping.

I'm guessing Trump deregulated the airspace causing this whole mess.
