1) SNAP benefits should not be open ended. They should only provide basic staples for sustenance and not **** like Snicker's bars, gas station hot dogs, and Monster energy drinks.
2) A budget is rarely blown on big ticket items. It's nickel and dimed to death on the little stuff. The attitude that "well it's only a couple of bucks more" is what runs people out of money at the end of the month and leaves them unable to pay their bills and/or provide for their families.
3) Borrowing money to pay debt is a fools errand. Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul is just stupid.
There is no "right to eat". You, individually, have the right to PURSUE life, liberty and happiness. I would assume that life and happiness are tied to eating. Therefore, it is your right to obtain food for yourself, not the government's duty to feed you.
You're just putting this out there as the reason why the inevitable collapse happened. It's coming and the making belongs squarely to Joe Biden. Live with the ramifications of your choice.
There has been only about FOUR YEARS in which the US government did not spend more than it took in. And that was when Andrew Jackson STOLE the lands that the Five Civilized Tribes in the South had cleared off and planted. Then he sold it to future slaveholders so they could grow cotton.Vegas » 17 Mar 2023, 11:07 am » wrote: ↑ All of this is spot on, but number 3 is the most important. While I enjoy grocery store sushi as much as the next person I remember eating government cheese and crackers. We should perhaps return to that model?

You bitch about deficit spending DESPITE that every administration but one ended their term with a deficit.
There was nary a word about deficit spending when Trump was president, and he spent LOTS more than Obama did.

I don't believe people should be shamed for poverty but think sushi might be an indicator that things have gone too far the other direction. We should return to sending out government manufactured food as a start.DeezerShoove » 17 Mar 2023, 2:10 pm » wrote: ↑ That was called "commodities" and it was embarrassing.
Heaven forbid we find any shame EVER in our lives.
