Don't you think that, if the insurrectionists had been successful and had, indeed hung Mike Pence and cowed Congress into NOT voting to accept the Electoral College results, the USA would have - in some way - crossed the Rubicon and would be forever changed by that event?

These people are DUMB.
If they signed a release, they did so without regard to being thought of as stupid.
They were simply given a statement to sign, and did so without bothering to read it. That, or they liked the idea of being on TV.
