We all know Carter was not a good President. Any president that has to go on television to admit that America is a failure obviously isn't fit to lead. Yet, with the former President in hospice, there has been a new revelation. According to the New York Times political operatives prevented Carter from resolving the Iran hostage crisis diplomatically in support of Reagan. This is why Reagan freed the hostages so early in his administration. Even knowing this now, I think it probably was for the best that Reagan won IMHO.

Department of Education and Department of Energy was started under Jimmy Carter.
