         A higher Percentage of Republicans in the Senate Voted to pass the 1964 Civil Rights Act than Democrats... Why would those disgruntled southern Democrats join the Party that ended slavery, and Voted to pass Civil Rights legislation?... Your argument would only hold water if it was the other way around, and the majority of Republicans in the Senate voted against it, and the Majority of Democrats supported it. ... 

         Strom didn't switch to Republican because he believed they better represented his Pro-Segregationist and anti Civil Rights positions, as the Vote results contradict as much... He left the Party out of anger & spite, and because it was politically expedient for him to do so... Did Senator Robert Byrd switch his affiliation from Democrat to Republican?  As we know, BYrd spent 9 years in the KKK, was a recruiter, formed a new WV Chapter, gave orders, and rose to the rank of Exalted Cyclops...

Normally i dont think women make good politicians. But there's a few younger coming along. That are pretty good. Like that woman from S.Dakoto.

           True..... The Democrats initially tried to Filibuster the 19th Amendment.... Eventually they abandoned the effort, the majority of Republicans got it passed...  Here was the final Vote count...

it depends on the region, though. In the state of georgia it really didnt change until around the late 1990s/ early 2000s. prominent democratic politicians like herman talmage continued to give token resistance to the civil rights movement
