monroe doctrine is a great example of putting your foot in your mouth. time changes everything. politicians always dig thru garbage cans looking for justifications. best to elect people who can think. and void all past doctrine. be a neutral nation. (monroe doctrine said: usa would be neutral, and stay out of european conflicts. )
