When I was in school. NO ONE got beat up for reading comics.
The kids who did not read comic books were the ones who could not read at all.
I was reading comic books when I was six years old.

So was my cousin, that turned communist mentality by 20 years old. His mom died of breast cancer and our parents(his mom and my dad) came from a dysfunctional family unit of 8 children 4 of two separate dads. they honored God and country first 4 catholics and second for different franchises of christianity and despised one another cradle to grave. Knowing this growing up. That was my dad's side, my mom's wasn't any different. but only 3 children of same grandma and grandpa. the male and two son in laws were freemasons. the two inlaws one a lawyer and the other dead at the university

So I lived in a very diverse ancestry where society kept each generation of siblings fighting among themselves same as politics and religions keep ancestries ignoring life in plain sight.

All out parents were Depression era children raised by parents that followed Woodrow Wilson state of mind. Progressive marxists. So I came from the poor side of societal evolution and managed to create a lifestyle ranked in the top global 20%. Did better than siblings, cousins, parents, aunts uncles, grandparents and the flowchart separation of individuals mutually evolving at the same time I kept staying away from the realities they chose to die for.

Same here. I was a kid in the 60s, and steamboat willy was lame as a mother ****. Mickey mouse was nonexistant. And the micky mouse club was something for ***. I think donald duck was a disney character, and he was tolerable as filler between cartoons we liked on a saturday. Warner Brothers had the good **** - them, and to a lesser degree Hanna-Barbera. Disney wasn't ****.

The Wonderful World of Disney was a Sunday night staple in my house growing up.
