There we have it. Musk is not a rag to riches story, like Musk wants people to believe. He came from a family who had a fortune. My question is why lie about it? He still has done amazing things. He doesn't need to prove anything to anybody. His father made his family a fortune, and good for him. That's nothing to be ashamed about. I am very proud of my father. He worked hard and was able to put his children through college. I can't imagine trying to discredit my dad's hard work. I am extremely proud of my father. He sent me on the right path because of his hard work.

Errol Musk also commented on why he believes his son, Elon Musk, is pushing back against the narrative his family made a fortune from emeralds. Musk says “Elon’s main concern is not to appear to be a ‘trust fund kid’ who got everything given to him on a plate.”The elder Musk added “The emeralds helped us through a very trying time in South Africa, when people were fleeing the country in droves, including his mother’s whole family, and earning opportunities were at an all-time low.
