Actually, they are not very efficient.  But, with stateism as an overlay to Chinese capitalism, they can make it look any way they want to.  That's the big problem investing in Chinese companies.  They lie.  Communist China allows and even encourages them to lie, so long as they coddle and worship Xi's little rice-dick. There is no reliable accounting standards by which you can even figure out if the company is doing well or not.

US Corps care.  They care a lot.  They care about profits and making money.  And, they care about complying with GAAP reporting, something completely foreign and thought of as insanely absurd to Chinese Communists.  These are all I really care about when buying ownership in one of them.

Yeah, we aren't too far apart on this.  I expect publicly traded companies to be loyal to its owners and profit off of the labor of its workers.  If they are going into business just to provide benefits and **** to its workers, disregarding customers and owners, then why would I ever want to own such a company?
