Sweden is building the world's first permanent electrified road for EVs to charge while driving

The first of its kind in the world, the e-motorway may lead to an expansion of a further 3,000 km of electric roads in Sweden by 2045.As the EU passed a landmark law last month to require all new cars sold to have zero CO2 emissions from 2035, European countries are rushing to prepare the infrastructure needed for fossil fuel-free mobility. And Sweden is now turning a highway into a permanent electrified road - the first of its kind in the world. On an electric road, cars and trucks can recharge while driving.

Experts say dynamic charging allows them to travel longer distances with smaller batteries, and to avoid waiting at charging stations. The Scandinavian country has pioneered electrified roads through several pilot projects including the world's first temporary electric road."We think the electrification solution is the way forward for decarbonising the transport sector and we are working with a number of solutions," Jan Pettersson, Director of Strategic Development at Trafikverket, the Swedish transport administration, told Euronews Next. The chosen motorway, European route E20, connects logistic hubs between Hallsberg and Örebro, located in the middle of the country’s three major cities, Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö.

About as much as microwave ovens and cellphones have caused.
You are not any sort of scientist, you know nothing about electricity and cancer.

Trolleycars.
Were they the cause of cancer?
I have never heard that they were.

How far do power lines radiation travel?
If the power lines are more than 300 feet away, there should be no cause for concern. At this distance EMF from the lines is no different from typical levels around the home. If the power lines are less than 300 feet away from the home, you may want to obtain EMF measurements in the yard.

It sure would be electrifying .....lol.
seriously though....
The only way Sweden has made this work is because it generates more electricity than it comsumes because of the low population ......
43% hydro electrical...
31% Nuclear.....
and they have a state of the art power grid now which they began updating in 2007....
This would not fly in North America ...
In my opinion...

You're talking terawatts of electricity.

Image

How are you thinking of generating it? windmills and *** panels?
No, I'm not raking through history to 'provide links'. If you can't directly dispute a point, then question your own links.

I started this thread after wasting 4 fingers of Glenlivet 25 year old single malt wondering the same thing...last
night.
What lead to the demise of the single malt  which hit the floor was the mention of using overhead power lines to power the larger vehicles and promoting it as innovative ......which it isn't.....

Secondly....
The cost of upgrading our national power grid would be about 3 trillion dollars and would take almost 2 decades ......

Do you know how much cancer microwaves and cellphones has caused?
Why do microwaves come with a warning to not turn them on without something in them?
I am/was a journeyman electrician and moved up to Instrument(electrical) Engineer and dabble in electronics.
I know enough about electricity to be dangerous! ha

I guess since you don't read, you wouldn't understand that people can learn about the association of electromagnetic fields causing cancer. Some say it does, some say it doesn't.
Besides PISS ANT, I asked a question.  I didn't state; this will cause all kinds of cancer!.
You are the one that speaks without knowledge, *******.

I am not the one that introduced the topic of cancer.

Who did? Majik did when he asked the rhetorical question, "wonder how much brain cancer that would cause?"

I don't think Majik has any clue whatever about this.
I did not claim that there was or was not any connection between Sweden's proposed road and cancer.

you ignorant jackass.  I introduced the cancer question. I asked questions in response to YOUR reply to ME.
You can't even keep up with a conversation...why should ANYONE even consider talking to you.
I think you might belong in my ignore list and signature area.
