The old saying "if you love your job, you'll never work a day in your life" applies to a mere fraction
of the people with jobs.

I have intermittently loved and hated my work. The money's always been decent.
But the joy of living comes from contentment, accomplishment, meaning, etc.

Polls have been taken more than once and money is right up there but doesn't make the top of the list of needs for a fulfilling, joyful life.
Scarier polls say we are dying as a person, country, planet...  

I am happy but I have a really good "resting bitch face". My one true power.

All the negative trash threads, some even dragged back from the dead repeatedly to whine...

Apparently it eludes people to admit anything makes them happy.

Obviously more than 8 billion other souls of humanity do pretending they don't know what their own ancestry's are doing as sole displacements occupying space in plain sight of one another field of view or lines of technologically instantly communicating between 24 relative time zones and several temperate zones cradle to grave between the two poles spanning 5 generation gaps simultaneously when spontaneously individually here.

I love being alive.  Having money is having freedom. Freedom to do whatever you want.  Playing all day, learning cool **** and just screwing around would make a great life. 

There are 2 sets of polls that are total crap.  The first says "Do what you love for work and you will be successful".  That's ****.  Most things that need to be done for others requires hard to obtain skills and lots of stress doing it.  If your job is fun, everyone would be doing it and not charging **** for it.  Gotta wonder what woke liberal-tard made that crap up.

The second says "If you quit working, you won't have a sense of purpose and will die faster".  More ****.  I've got a list of fun **** I want to do.  I'll never get to all of it in one lifetime.  I'd like to learn how to really weld, machine things, run more, box again, lift weights, learn the math behind quantum mechanics, I could go on and on.  All I need is enough "F-U" money, and I'm there!!!

I weld (kind of) and got a plasma cutter last year.
I wanted to make some heavy **** sculpture for my yard that would take serious logistics to remove.
Why?
Why not? Maybe I'll get to it before I move. Doesn't matter.

That's part of my center these days: Does the topic at hand even matter that much?
I had a neighbor in a town where I lived previously for about a dozen years.
She was 99 years old.
The last year of her life she told me "nothing matters..."  Pretty deep.
In the context of our conversation, I was moved by how simple and true that was.
She didn't mean it as sad or a critique on life.
It was her version of "Don't sweat the small stuff" in a way.
But coming from a 99 year old woman knowing she was achingly close to the end was impactful.

It gave me perspective and, surprisingly, optimism.
"Nothing matters" with that twinkle in her eye will never leave me.

A corrupted mind of a typecast people person that hasn't actually engaged his conceived brain since 3 years old. Not a clue how adapt or become extinct applies to each ancestor occupying space now.Rather play the game of best self deceptionist alive than prevent the preventable extinction realities direct his own species into sooner than later.

See I show respect for ancestors equally created, and reveal what corrupted them since birth last 400 generation gaps lived so far.

I honestly worried about whether or not I'd enjoy retirement, but it's been great not to have the stress of running a business now that I've retired at 69.  Even though I would have continued working if my health would have permitted it, but now that I've accepted the facts of what I can no longer do, it's been great!  Looking back at my years of work, I honestly don't know how I was able to do it so long.  And yes, having the money to be able to do anything I like is a huge factor, especially when it's apparent that so many Americans have lived their entire lives paycheck to paycheck, or have nothing saved for retirement and will be relying solely on SS. 
That's sad.

I said. Why?
She said " Because i was given so much talent, and i never used it"

I'm not religious... But that afternoon... I walked off the job. Right out the door.   and set out * to find myself*
And from that day forward. I never did a job of any kind that wasn't fun.
problem with that was... the  future retirement isnt looking so good. LOL

I sort of believe the opposite.  Everything matters. Every word we utter to every action we take during our lifetimes matters. Perhaps not to anyone else but yourself, but it does matter. Let's examine this in the extreme and maybe you will see what I  mean:

• A young couple has a 4 year old little girl and, while visiting New York, a man with a knife randomly murders the little girl.  The young couple ends up getting divorced and having no more children because they can't cope with their grief.  The little girl does not get to grow up and become CEO of IBM, and as a result, IBM winds up destroying Microsoft due to pursuing a different but highly successful cloud platform.  The murderer goes to prison where he ends up murdering 3 men, one of which was Jeffery Epstein.  Because of that, many politicians who raped children were never implicated because Epstein was silenced.

I traveled a lot when I was young, lived in some cool places

I learned early on to reduce regrets as much as possible

I walked away from some good paying jobs , for lack of respect

finally ended up in a good paying job, had lots of good friends, and it was always ( for the most part ) rewarding

ive been retired for a while now, and still to this day, I smile on sunday, knowing I dont have to go to work on monday

I love when it snows, I smile because I dont have to panic to dig my car out

and when the grandkids call, I can go get them any day of the week

much more, but you get the idea

I am happy.  My jobs have been okay. Some great, some awful. I usually look ahead with goals I am trying to accomplish. In a year, it will come to fruition. I would love to say, but given all the stupid crap I posted here, I don't want to dox myself.

I am glad to see you had jobs, instead of a career. It is an instinctive different use of vocabulary. Intellectually dominate minds use career path rather than working a job that keeps society flowing for ancestors to have equal opportunity to balance between social living and private lives nobody else's business as long as it doesn't involve sedition or seduction into wrong behaviors that upsets perpetual balancing results limited to details never duplicated forward now.
