Every time I introduced myself people, they laughed at me.

When I was in the London airport they held me for about a hour because on Irish sounding name.
Some guys from Philly had got caught about 2 weeks earlier sending the IRA guns and thought I might have been a part of the ORG.
I asked a couple of my British friends if "limey" is an insult or not.
They said not necessarily. Context is everything.
Said angrily AS an insult, it most certainly is.
Just like we Americans are referred to as "septics".
It's part of cockney rhyming slang; or at least was a few years ago.
