The Supreme Court is the final authority on interpreting the Constitution and in the 1869 Supreme Court ruling held that secession is illegal.  That's what the Supreme Court does - determine what can and cannot happen according to the Constitution.  Until it revisits this question and decides otherwise, that is the law of the land.
Where does it say the government has the right to say we cannot defend our borders?
It doesn't have to.  The question is whether the Constitution prohibits the Federal Government from enacting laws that dictate who can and cannot defend the country's border.  Now, I do not know if there is a Federal law which prohibits states or individuals from defending the border - have no idea.  But, I do know that there is no prohibition in the Constitution on the Federal Government to pass such a law.
Are you actually trying to say we have to pay taxes ...
The Constitution does not prohibit Congress and the President from levying taxes against Americans.
to an entity that refuses to do what it is Constitutionally directed to do?
Some would argue that this is what elections are for - to kick out those who are incompetent or unable to perform their federal duties, either under the Constitution or under other federal laws.   Why are the American People not kicking out these bozos during election time, if defending borders is something they want the Federal Government to do?  Elections come around every 2 years.   At regular intervals, a significant majority of the American people can take control of both houses of Congress and the Presidency.

But, if we have **** for citizens, then so be it. Citizens who don't care.  Citizens who are lazy.  Citizens who are addicted to drugs or alcohol.  Citizens who are too high to know what's going on.  Right now, I believe that we have too many **** for citizens.  This is a WE problem.
