Not sure what this thread is for.
A giant gun is not for EDC so what is it you expect with this?

I like the Desert Eagle.  Not because its practical.  Not for its concealability.  But, just because its well made, well engineered and it works like a champ.  I've owned one for a long time, but I don't ever shoot it anymore.  It was a "novelty" purchase.  Now, it's marked as "trading fodder" for something I'd rather have. But, I don't know what yet.

The images won't show for some reason.
Same gun, Desert Eagle. Three surfaces.

1. Gold plate
2. Gold plate with a ton of gawdy engraving
3. Conventional blued/black gun.

1. Black race
2. Hispanic race
3. White race.

Summary...

Most of the white race is not about flash and bling...most.

I fired the .50 when it first came out. Recoil wasn't bad at all because of the weight. Surprisingly, VERY accurate as well, even at 60 yards!

I never shot the 357, as I just have it set up for the 44mag.

Let me tell you what the DE is really good for - Bowling Pin competition.  It is accurate and one shot will clear the pin off the table.  And, the gun is (relatively) easu to get back on target, because it is gas operated. I was shooting bowling pins with friends for awhile, and I forgot, I did use the DE for that.

I'm a layman when it comes to gunsmithing...never learned. BUT, give me a .45 Colt government 1911, or an M16 or AR-15, and I own them (figuratively now). We timed field stripping and re-assembling in the day.

I love anything Browning...made in Belgium, of course, not Nippon, although Nippon made are good guns.
Love me some SA Colt Army wheel guns.
Love me any no dash S&W wheel guns with pinned barrels.
Love me all vintage Winchesters. Got me a Winchester Model 94 SRC (Saddle Ring Carbine) lever action 30-30.
Any Ruger
Had a Coonan .357 Automag pistol when they first came out. Made in USA, SS, and a wonderful piece. Bolt..like the Desert Eagle. One I should have never sold. They were small, and went out of business, but now fetch at least $3K if you can find one.
Shotgun? Browning A-5, Winchester Model 50, Ithaca Model 37.
BUG?  .32 ACP Seecamp will do the job at fighting distance.

Too many others to list that I like. I'm a gunphile, audiophile, artphile and fishingphile!  Odd combo, huh?

What are some of your faves?

Watch me piss-off my buddy, Skan-Dog.
I don't care.     I do not need anyone's permission.....to be ......me.
I like revolvers.   I am a old-fashion, country-boy.
(yes, I am clear on the differences & ballistics of the 10mm Glock-20)

Taurus. .357mag. Model 627. SST.  7-rd.   4" bbl......ported.  28oz.
With Hornady XTP 125gr. hollow-points at 1500fps.

This is my # 1 go-to...... "problem-solver".
It can kill anything that walks or crawls.

Taurus Tracker metallurgy & machining is equal to Colt Python,.......
& Smith & Wesson 686.       Taurus backs the NRA 1000%......as do I .
I will back their brave heart.

Now, that Taurus Tracker sure looks like a nice 357, which will perform as well if not better ballistically than 10mm.

HOWEVER, the metallurgy and machining is not equal to that of a Colt Python!  The Colt Python is 100% forged, blued steel (new ones only come in Stainless).  Taurus makes its Hammers and Triggers from MIM.  Classic Pythons do not. Pythons are precision machined parts hand fitted.  They use a multi-step polishing process to get that deep blue-black mirror gloss finish which only some custom shops can replicate.  The Taurus has an industrial bead-blasted finish.

Now, that Taurus might be an excellent shooter.  But, it is no Python.
