Taurus. .357mag. Model 627. SST.  7-rd.   4" bbl......ported.  28oz.
With Hornady XTP 125gr. hollow-points at 1500fps.
This is my # 1 go-to...... "problem-solver".   
It can kill anything that walks or crawls.
Taurus Tracker metallurgy & machining is equal to Colt Python,.......
& Smith & Wesson 686.       Taurus backs the NRA 1000%......as do I .   
I will back their brave heart.

Now, that Taurus Tracker sure looks like a nice 357, which will perform as well if not better ballistically than 10mm. 

HOWEVER, the metallurgy and machining is not equal to that of a Colt Python!  The Colt Python is 100% forged, blued steel (new ones only come in Stainless).  Taurus makes its Hammers and Triggers from MIM.  Classic Pythons do not. Pythons are precision machined parts hand fitted.  They use a multi-step polishing process to get that deep blue-black mirror gloss finish which only some custom shops can replicate.  The Taurus has an industrial bead-blasted finish.

Now, that Taurus might be an excellent shooter.  But, it is no Python.  
 
If you want to compare the Python to another revolver, I have to inform you that you will have to go with the hand-built, custom pre-80 Korths built by Willie Korth himself. And, even though the Korth Revolvers are comparable in quality to the early Pythons, the Korth will set you back about $6,500-$7,500 if you can find a decent one.

  I wouldn't mind shooting er well blowing up some bowling pins with one of these brutes..
The BFG 45/70 (yes that 45/70 govt.) is out of my price range.
 But the S&W 500 isn't. It is pricey at around $1,200.00 to $1,500.00 though.  I'm thinking real hard about getting one. But it won't be until around December.

My two Pythons are safe queens - I don't shoot 'em.  One was made in 1957 (1st year production, 1955) and the other in 1960.

For bowling pins, I now use my Tanfoglio 10mm.  Lower recoil than a 357 revolver and easier/faster to get the sights back on target, plush I've got 16 rounds before having to reload.  9mm just doesn't cut it for bowling pins.

You'd be surprised at the abuse a bowling pin can take!  The problem with those guns is that you would get one shot, well aimed and likely remove one bowling pin from the table, but I'll be on pin #3.  The bigger the gun/recoil, the longer it takes to get your sites back on the next target.  On the other hand, if you are shooting 9mm, you will likely have to hit each pin 2-3 times to clear it from the table.

Well, the goal with purchasing a gun or deciding which gun someone wants to own is rarely for "intimidation".  What some of us were discussing are bowling pin competitions.  Generally, each player has a set of 5 bowling pins on a platform and the goal is to clear all 5 bowling pins off the platform before your opponent can (many variations, I know).  This tests shooting accuracy, speed, and recovery response time under pressure.

Switching gears, it is a very bad idea to think you will encounter a situation where you will use a gun to intimidate someone.  Generally speaking, either you will use a gun to stop an imminent, potentially lethal threat, or you better not use the gun at all. Because, simply brandishing a gun to intimidate someone is a crime.  However, as with most things, there is an exception. 

Exception.  Let's say you live in a castle-doctrine state (can shoot home intruders because the act of intruding into one's home is an imminent threat in and of itself).  You catch a burglar and are holding that person at gunpoint.  Perhaps you don't want to just shoot him because 1) you have a moral compunction against killing and 2) you don't want to get blood on your Miami-Vice-white marble flooring.  In that case, if you are skilled enough, you might want a sufficiently "intimidating" gun to hold the guy at gunpoint until the cops arrive.  Not a good idea, but I get it - some people are clean freaks.

You can get the BFR 45/70 for around $1400 but if your sole purpose is to annihilate the cartilage in your wrist you might as well chamber it in 450 Marlin.

You pretty much picked the same thing I did, although I chose the plain gold plate for the blacks. 
Always remember, holding your weapon horizontally looks cool. Upside down would look even cooler.
