Disney cancels 2000 "prospective" jobs and some new attractions in Florida.  They blame it on DeSantis' policies toward Disney.  But, the truth is that Disney's numbers suck.  Not just suck, but suck real bad.

Bob Iger is demanding head-count to shrink Disney's losses.  Losses due to people losing interest in their streaming platform and even their parks. So, of course Disney is not going to plan any new projects or hire new employees at this time - they don't have the money or resources or even the demand for their product to justify it.  So, in typical woke, leftist, Democrat fashion, Iger blames his company's failures on Ron Desantis.

DeSantis has far better things to do other than play nursemaid to the Sick Mouse.

What was once a FAMILY oriented company and business... has now turned into the FACE of WOKE-izm, and Liberalism, in America... Walt is turning over in his grave... BUT, the TRUTH be TOLD... Whatever is happening to Disney is NOT the fault of Ron DeSantis... and IS the fault of Disney management !!

THEY need to get a CEO in place who CARES more about AMERICA, about FAMILIES, and about TRADITIONAL American VALUES... MORE than trying to PUSH WOKE-izm on America !  Until they do...

We've been down this road before, and again you misunderstand the story. The "prospective" jobs are actually real jobs that currently exist in California. Disney was going to invest in the infrastructure to move these 2000 well paying jobs in their Disney Parks, Experiences and Products division to Florida. Disney Parks, Experiences and Products just reported a Q2 17% increase in revenue. These 2000 jobs aren't going away, they're just not coming to Florida, for now. My personal opinion is this is just part of the Desantis/Iger "My dick's bigger than yours" game. We'll find out in September if Disney is planning any new park projects in Florida, my feeling is that they will announce expansions of existing parks.
 

It was stupid and vengeful for DiSantis to take on Disney. What really pissed him off was almost certainly not Disney opposing his anti-gay law, it was Disney declaring that it would no longer donate money to political candidates.

Disney donated more to the GOP than to Democrats. Now they donate nothing.

This is what happens when a powerful corporate entity becomes politically involved.  Disney should stick to what it does best and that is entertainment.

I remember opening day at Disneyland.  We all knew that it was too small from the beginning and was doomed to be trapped in the cycle of bigger, bigger, bigger all the time (to keep people interested).   It's too bad Disney died early.  He knew what he wanted.  

A bit later rumors of a second park in Florida were heard.   And then one in France and even Japan.  I remember thinking this was going to lead to trouble and the reason was that Walts dream would find serious competition in the quest for power and money that would now take center stage.  

So now we see Disney world wearing the entertainment hat and another styled for regional government.  This seemed good because, after all, it was Disney that developed the area from open waterlands into a new community.  But a little at a time conflicts with the State showed up.  It's a trap and Disney was stuck in it.  What happened to the original dream of the founder? 

The icing on the cake is the blatant left shifting wokism.   Poor Walt would cry if he could see what's happening now.

I'm in my eighties now.  I choose to remember Disneyland as it was in 1956 when I first visited.

I did not realize this about the prospective jobs which exist in California moving to Florida.  However, it sounds a bit contrived to me, as if the funds necessary to move those jobs is being cut back due to Disney's overall poor performance.  As for park expansions, I tend to believe the same thing.  Disney may not want to extend itself and take on a lot more debt as EBITA is falling to pay for risky, expensive and long-term projects.  It's easy enough to just blame it on DeSantis and use him as a scapegoat.

Walt was a corportist who knew he had to sell shares of his creations to gain funding for more ventures. He never truly owned 100% of anything he created. He relied on many others to finance his concepts, and well, this is what you get if you are successful - a 100-tentacle, monstrous corporate octopus.
 

a true deep dive would tell someone a different story than what is presented above... Park attendance has not declined. This downsizing comes down to their streaming platforms and their swinging and missing on a few expensive movies/TV shows.

You actually spoke with Walt Disney?  I had heard the same things about him.  I worked with a guy that knew Walt personally - he died about 10 years ago.

Still, that doesn't make Walt infallible.  It makes him a dreamer, with dreams that were not entirely in-synch with his corporitist, more pragmatic needs for funding those dreams.  If you ain't got the money, then sometimes you have to whore-out your dreams to feed the kids.

Sure. You are right.  We humans are too obsessed with the power than comes from money.  

Now we are once again being tempted by global Marxism.  They promise the world for the little guy but it always turns out that they build empires for themselves and the rest of us?   We get hung out to dry.

Disney did the best that he knew how.  Without his backers that little plot in Anaheim would probably still be in orange trees.  He can't take the heat for what happened later.  The same would have happened to any of us.  Almost....

This is why, when Trump came along, the real rulers of our land **** themselves.  Trump didn't need their money.  They went crazy trying to run him out of town and they're still at it.   They will never learn.

I don't have long to go before my transition back to spirit.  I fully intend to find Walt and see what he has to say about the world today.

None of us have all the answers.  The best we can do is to keep ourselves aimed at what we think best.

I want to say, in closing, that this sort of thing is what the anti-capitalists rant over all the time.  They claim that if only we can purify the world by getting rid of the profiteers then all will be well.  But what they don't say is that the profiteers will be replaced by equally evil people who set themselves up as absolute rulers and they have police forces to prove it.
