A transgender cyclist won the female category at a gravel race but stood alone on the winners' podium after the event.
The second- and third-place winners refused to appear at the medal ceremony after Lesley Mumford won her age group in the 100-mile Desert Gravel Co2Ut. Mumford was born a male and transitioned to female in 2017.
"I have no idea why so many people bailed before the podiums, but they did," Mumford wrote after finishing ahead of 43 female athletes in the 40-49 division.

Sports are at most amusements.

What an arrogant, self-centered prick you are. Clearly, a lot of people care!!! Especially the ones who trained hard for this race.
Sports is big business. Beyond that, it is something people train passionately for and it helps keep people well conditioned physically. Riding a roller coaster and watching a re-run of Friends are "amusements", neither of which are comparable to participating in sports.Sports are at most amusements.
In Tennis, Cross Country, Track events, as several examples, it matters who wins. Because scholarship are handed out based upon an individual's ranking and winning record. Yeah, it freaking matters!!!But I do not give a **** who wins a dumb bicycle race, and every one of you also does not care.
