Don't ask the damn question.

We have a couple of cruises scheduled for next year.  In the Facebook group for one of them, someone asked it they could bring weed onboard.  The person lived in Colorado, but we are sailing out of Texas.  After the first couple of responses, she got defensive and said her mother uses it for medical reasons, but she doesn't have a prescription.  I guess I should have kept my "mouth" shut after her rant, but didn't.  I pointed out sale, possession and use of it was still a federal crime. In Texas, medical use is legal only if a prescription from an MD and anything held for recreational use in excess of 2.5 grams is still a crime.  In The Bahamas, recreational use of any amount is a crime and medical use needs a valid prescription and a permit issued by their government.  I Mexico, they technically should not be arrested for possession, but people are often arrested anyway and forced to pay the police a "fine" so they can be released.  Lastly, I pointed out possession and use aboard a Royal Caribbean ship is prohibited and they would not be allowed to board or, if they managed to get it on the ship, would be put ashore in the first port after they were discovered (and confined to their cabin until arrival in the port).

Let me tell you, I pissed her (and several others) off.  It got so bad, the group administrator deleted the thread.

Get that all the time. my NHB threads go to water cooler. Other message boards suspend and ban me for being disruptive to social consensus been misled for so long they don't know basic right from wrong simply adapting in space separate by the moment here.

Pot-heads are a real cantankerous group of addicts, aren't they.

Tell her to get some gummies and transfer them into a "legal" candy bag so they appear to just be regular candy.

I really doubt she will have any issues with that and she won't have to worry about sneaking to smoke or any off putting odors.

Being from Colorado, I doubt she would have any problems finding some THC gummies that mimic the look of any other ordinary legal candy... like these



I highly doubt that the cruise line is going to break out a test kit to see if her candy is legit, if they even question it at all.

If I had been judgemental about it, I could almost understand.  But, for once, I simply provided the facts.

I did have to laugh when someone told her to ask Brittney Griner what happens when you're caught with an illegal substance in another country.

Actually, every cruise we have taken there have been either Customs or state law enforcement with dogs working the luggage areas.  Additionally, in the two countries that cruise is visiting (Mexico and The Bahamas) they usually have dogs working their entry points.

To the best of my knowledge, the gummies don't have any smell, other than the flavor of the candy itself.

Baked good like cookies and brownies do for sure, but I don't believe that gelatine based candy does.

I've brought gummies back from Colorado into TN in my checked baggage several times and even had a plane swap in between and never had any issues... of course that's domestic travel versus international too.

I guess it boils down to if she wants to risk it or not.

I definitely wouldn't try to take actually weed flowers on board.
