Yes. They learn that their reaction should be proportionate to their outrage - that outrage is a justifier of action. I will wager most are quite shocked when no one gives a slitary **** WHY they did it - only THAT they did it.
Two huge things that are missing in child rearing these days.Cannonpointer » 07 Jun 2023, 7:32 pm » wrote: ↑ Yes. They'll have time to get over their surprise, I suppose.

1) There are consequences for your actions, and you WILL suffer them.
and...
2) Life isn't fair, and very very few people even remotely give a **** about your problems.
I see so many parents making hollow threats of discipline these days, and then caving right away and letting the little **** have what they wanted in the first place because the parent doesn't want to hurt the kid's feelings.
No Timmy, you're not always going to win. In fact you're usually gonna lose. Suck it up and do better.
That was a good video to watch. It's what I've been preaching to my kid since gradeschool. And, to my wife. Because, she was inclined not to let the kid fail by giving too much help and "gentle reminders". I have on occasion reminded my wife, "let the kid f-up and fail NOW, because the consequence is merely shame and disappointment. Nothing that can't be recovered from. Teach kids to own their failures and successes from early on. They will be better off for it.
He is touching on just a tiny part of the problem. Our young boys have been taught that being a boy is a bad thing. If a boy is too aggressive at school or too wild, they give them drugs to "even out his temperament". The boys are actually taught NOT to be boys, that masculinity is a bad thing and as a result, we have a couple of generations of lost young men who are lost and don't feel they belong anywhere in society. The feminization of young boys in the schools IS the problem.
It is a multifaceted issue for sure, and yes, boys need to be allowed to be boys. They are supposed to be rambunctious and get into trouble from time to time. They need to crash their bikes, throw rocks, and get into the occasional fight and such. That's how they learn boundaries.RayJJohnson » 08 Jun 2023, 9:40 am » wrote: ↑ He is touching on just a tiny part of the problem. Our young boys have been taught that being a boy is a bad thing.
