The other 21 member states have already assured Ukraine of support, the deputy head of President Vladimir Zelensky’s office saysMore than ten NATO member states out of 31 don’t want Ukraine to join the US-led military bloc, Igor Zhovkva, the deputy head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office, has stated.Kiev already has 20 signed declarations of support for its NATO bid, Zhovkva wrote on Facebook on Saturday. This means that 11 member states have so far refused to back Kiev's application.Zhovkva published his post hours after Zelensky and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau signed a document in Kiev that signaled Ottawa’s consent to Ukraine becoming a part of NATO. "The joint declaration clearly fixes backing for Ukraine’s membership of NATO from the Canadian side as soon as conditions permit this. This is the strongest wording among all G7 countries that are NATO members," Zhovkva wrote.A similar declaration has also recently been signed with the government of Romania, Zhovkva added. ImageREAD MORE: NATO membership ‘unlikely’ for Ukraine now – US ambassadorAccording to the deputy head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office, those developments were "another stage of preparation for the successful NATO Summit in Vilnius in July" for Ukraine.Earlier this week, US envoy to NATO Julianne Smith told Politico that "a proper invitation" into NATO for Ukraine is "unlikely" as long as Kiev remains in conflict with Moscow. However, Smith pointed out that during the upcoming gathering in the Lithuanian capital, the bloc still wanted to send a message to Kiev that it was determined to keep helping it in the long term. There’s an "array of options" for NATO to do so, she added.Russia, which sees NATO’s eastward expansion as a major security threat, had singled out Kiev’s push to join the US-led military alliance among the main reasons for launching its military operation in Ukraine more than a year ago.

Russian Generals and members of the Duma are starting to put pressure on Putin to be more decisive and widen the scope of their goals while others are also wanting Putin to flatten Kiev and force Zelensky to flee to Poland .
and then there are the hardliner's whom want Putin to strike NATO's core cities especially in Germany, Britian, Belgium etc...because their reasoning is what the **** can NATO  do about it besides complain...and if America wants to play Nuclear Chicken ..we invented the game of Chicken.
And that my friend is how escalation can be a dangerous thing ....especially to Europe and NATO.

I have read and understand that view.  In terms of Russian politics, Putin is a moderate.
He sees Ukes as brother Slavs.  However, as you say 50% of the Duma are much more
hawks and conservative in terms of Russian nationalism.

Why these Neocon turds want Putin dead is such simplistic hubris.
What would follow is much worse for the West.

Well, most Americans are totally ignorant of the fact that Putin is a moderate and is the only thing holding back the hardliner's whom would have already flattened the Ukraine and probably would have already struck Europe just for **** and giggles.
because they do not fear America because of their vast nuclear arsenal and advanced first strike capabilities ....
And they know that America would not risk annihilation over the Ukraine or the destruction of a few European cities....

If Putin DARES do such things, he will be FLOODED with complaints. FLOODED.

If he puts one TOE across any line we draw, we'll draw another line so fast it will make his HEAD spin.  Image

Putin can go back to Russia, and do this the easy way. Or he can learn the hard way that the best way to deal with western Karens is to NOT deal with western Karens. He's going to get himself labeled a transphobe, and then @Skans and his *** fake texan buddy will REALLY be miffed and peeved at him.

You would think these western politicians including our's would want to try and avert any escalation that would lead to a world war and strive for peace before it's too late...
But no ....Their Lunatic Agenda demands a culling ....and they haven't figured out yet because they are Lunatics that they too are to be culled because the Agenda they serve has no problem sacrificing them and the electorates they serve  because after all they are all just pawns and don't even know it.....
and Skans can go **** himself ....
