national socialist germany actually had its own hollywood. And indeed the country produced a lot of great stuff...having the highest GDP of all countries in the world, most gold medals at the olympics, etc etc. Pretty much all of it is of course forgotten because they were evil so everything they produced must be shunned.

But apparently, youtube has allowed this movie to continue to exist. Its a fairly good watch and holds up rather well. Dont worry, there is no raving about jews or any propaganda like that. I think people should watch it. Clearly this is not a movie that you would imagine some evil brainwashed regime to produce.

it is different from modern hollywood movies largely by being a great deal more intellectual. It deals with themes of optimism versus pessimism, adventure versus duty, Eros versus Pragma. I think it is also worth noting that if anything, the movie is rather feminist...it clearly does not come from some anti-female culture. Indeed the women of the movie show a great deal more agency and depth than the male protagonist...who seems buffeted around by his own passions and is unable to be decisive in his choices. There is a hint of melodrama which seems to stem from the uniquely German tone of romanticism...which reminds me a great deal of Goethe. This style of storytelling seems to be remarkably good at creating a satisfying ending.

You're dumber than you look.

EVERY film made in Germany after 1933 under the NAZIS was PURE PROPAGANDA and nothing less. Goebbels ASSURED every movie made was spouting that NAZIS were the best and sacrifice to the Reich was demanded.

THIS film is no different.
Liberals are spoiled children, miserable, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic & useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats ~O'Rourke

The Democratic Party seems intransigent on their position of keeping the party ‘woke,’ detached, exclusionary, and totally insane.

Oh, look. The lightweight spoken about in the OP.

Right on cue.
When you complain, ur friends roll their eyes and ur enemies rejoice

"Because I SAY I am" is a todler's tantrum, not "science"

You cannot betray me - only yourself, to me.

Who cuts off your dick is not a friend

An opinion you won't defend is not your own

Humanity's Law of the Jungle: Survival NOT of the fittest, but of the tribe

When peeing in the pool, stand on the edge

If gender is not sex, why should a gender claim change what sex you shower with?

I'm just where he takes down Nietzche. I'm kind of average in my emotional range - but I have to agree with the character's position. And that's coming from a Poe fan. I like Poe very much - but I prefer Victor Hugo. I would point out to the room full of Nietzche fans that the sun also rises. :)
