A few years ago my Republican friends were afraid that scary Obama (they hated the white half of him too, they assured me) was going to ruin their light bulbs.

Today LED light bulbs are all that’s sold and not even a fool would buy the old kind, if they could.

These cost $3 each.  They last over ten years and use a fraction of the electricity.

In fact, they don’t sell the curly kind anymore.

One thing Murdock can count on.

Over the last decade or two, Fox has told countless lies to the gullible marks who indulge in watching it.

I can’t remember even one truth, not even anything remotely approaching the truth.

But no matter how many times, Fox is wrong, the sheep line right up ready for the next lie.

You’d think they’d learn.

The two worst media outlets (at least of the large ones) are MSNBC and NPR. They can all be caught in BS at times but those are the two worst.

I listen to or read all of the big ones and anybody who throws stones at fox and spare those others is a **** idiot.

MSNBC is leftist propaganda but NPR over the years, has become truly mainstream.

For example, MSNBC must begin and end all electric car discussions with reduction of carbon emissions and saving the planet.

NPR will report the reason electrics are coming is they cost less and operate on three cents a mile.

What saves Fox is their average mark soon forgets about Fox warnings over LED light bulbs and gets worried about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

I wonder how many  billions Fox earned from Benghazi?

I used to think hybrids would be the next automotive tech and here’s why, I was wrong.

My father was born in 1919 and my grandfather owned a 20 horsepower Ford Model T.

It had basically the same tech as my Suburban.  A four cycle Otto engine, four wheels, a transmission and a drive shaft.

A hybrid car, is required to have a four cycle gas motor transmission and driveshaft that will drive it 80 miles an hour uphill and down, all day long, and it has to climb Pike’s Peak and work in Nome Alaska and Key West Florida, or nobody will ever buy one.

Eliminate that gas engine, transmission, and drive train and the car is vastly cheaper to manufacture.

Electric cars are elegantly enginnered.

Take a hundred years of chassis and body development  and build the car itself.

Add an electric motor to an axle.

Place a battery with at least 200 miles of range.

The key was, improvements in batteries and a 90% cost reduction in batteries.

The electric is as inevitable as the automatic transmission was.

Me too. I have a friend that has one. And it recharges itself. She luvs it.. but oh no. They want all the choices eliminated. For TOTAL control.
Then Up with the cost of electricity! mark my words.

One of the things I learned early was, there is no “they”.

We make our own choices, not “they” forcing us to do anything.

The hybrid advantage is that when the battery drains there’s a gas motor backup,

A decade ago when EV batteries cost ten times more than today that made sense.

When her hybrid wears out or gets so old or she wants another, the hybrids will be around.

But she’s not likely to want one.

“They” is us. The people that blame “they” should look in the mirror.

If you have $32,000 today, you can buy a Tesla with a range of over 300 miles and can be recharged while you have a coffee.

It also outruns any muscle car ever made at 0-60 in three seconds.

Image

It has no gas engine and no transmission and no drive train.  It operates at three cents a mile.  It never needs gasoline.

How much more will people pay for worse?

If you added a gas motor and transmission and drivetrain to a Tesla 3 you’d have a worse electric car.  It would have a smaller battery, to fit the gas drivetrain.

What happened to hybrids was a 90% fall in EV battery prices.

See why Musk can blow 44 billion on Twitter and have his own fleet of rocket ships and still be the richest guy alive?

Tesla is the electric to beat.

There is NO PROBLEM HERE!
Its so simple! If you don't want an EV, then don't buy one!
See how easy that was, folks?

Not realistic bruce...not sure where you live, but in MN, winter will destroy the purported range...

hybrid is the best of both worlds until the shortcomings of EVs disappear...and there are a lot...

cost (too high)
range (too short)
longevity (unknown)

to name a few..

There’s a gas alternative to a Tesla 3, about the same price.

The base model Chrysler 300

The 300 (and the Charger) is the last traditional front engined, four door, two ton, rear wheel Detroiter made.

We own a 2012 Hemi model.  The new one is essentially the same as ours, which is essentially the same as a 2005 model.

The Tesla runs for a third or more less cost.

The Tesla will outrun a $100,000 Charger Hellcat.

The Chrysler will run 500  miles on a tank, but who can drive 500 miles without stopping?

But the Tesla will have a very slow deprecation curve.

And in ten years, who will want the gas car if you gave it to them?

I don’t think people realize how quickly nobody will want a gasoline car that costs $60 to fill up when they are parked beside an electric that’s cheaper, that only costs $6.

Every place we buy gas will have Class 3 (30 minute) chargers in only a few years.

The range is less, but at least as much in the dead of winter as all the pre 1973 dinosaurs that only had a 200 mile range.  Long range cars, are a fairly recent development.

I turned 16 in 1974.  The price of gas had doubled from 25 cents to 50 cents.

The price of the typical 9 mpg car fell like a stone.

People bought **** little cracker boxes instead.

The new electrics will be very nice, traditional cars.

An electric motor on an axle is many thousands of dollars cheaper to build than a gasoline drivetrain.  The car, remains essentially the same.

And the kids will buy  thousand horsepower electric cars, with multiple motors. We’ll settle for four or five hundred horsepower.

I never knew or thought about an electric car having a 60% efficiency compared to the 20% efficiency of what we drive now.

I knew wind turbines were getting cheaper but could not imagine that today, a new wind turbine installation is the cheapest source of electricity at two cents a kilowatt.

I don’t think I’ll ever buy into man made climate change.

But we’ll all drive electrics if we live ten more years, and because of economics, not to save the planet.
