June 29 (Reuters) - The conservative U.S. political network led by billionaire Charles Koch has raised over $70 million to spend on political races, an official with the group said on Thursday, with a key goal of stopping former President Donald Trump from clinching the 2024 Republican nomination.

They became rich betting on the right horses.
Mr. Koch is the furthest from a liberal of any man alive.
He’s never spending a dollar to help Democrats (well, maybe Joe Manchin).
He fears Trump will lose to Biden.

If Koch thought Trump could win, then him giving Trump 70 million would be a wise investment.
But he’s spending 70 million not just to avoid Biden being re-elected, but to keep a Republican house majority.
Trump at the top of every ballot in 2024 will energize Democrats as no other Republican is capable of doing.
If Trump is on the ballot swarms of Democrats that might have stayed home will vote in every state, even red states, and destroy the paper thin GOP house margin.
Note he’s not financing DeSantis, who is just another, younger version of Trump.
His dream ticket would be Nikey Haley and Christie Noem.
Haley is presidential and Noem looks like a refugee from a Playboy centerfold, and she talks all MAGA to turn out the Trumpies.
But he’s spending 70 million not just to avoid Biden being re-elected, but to keep a Republican house majority.

And neither one is scandalous, like Trump.
