Anyone can so anyone for anything. That doesn't mean they win. There should be penalties for making bogus lawsuits.Z09 » 13 Jul 2023, 6:20 am » wrote: ↑ Am I missing something?

I can't stand sue-happy people, or companies for that matter. I am surprised that so few people even seem to care about this. Some simple legislation would stop bogus lawsuits in their tracks. I get it, lawyers will fight to ever stop the flow of lawsuits, no matter how ridiculous they are. But, this does need to stop, and it does need to be an issue at the forefront of State politics.impartialobserver » 13 Jul 2023, 3:42 pm » wrote: ↑ I am not one to attend rallies, march, protest, etc. but if there was a bill that seriously aimed to penalize bogus lawsuits... I am taking vacation time, getting the sign out, and doing some yelling. Imagine all of the money that would not be spent or forced away from companies if these bogus lawsuits never came into existence.

A Uber is called the driver picks up passengers.
One falls asleep and the one asks the driver to stop after a few miles because he has to vomit.
Driver stops and passengers get out.
One guy vomits and the other guy walks away.
After calling his name for awhile the other passenger never comes back.
After awhile the Uber leaves and a short time after the missing passenger gets hit by a car and is killed.
And the family is suing Uber?

The family of a Corona man who was hit by a car and killed says he was left behind on the 91 Freeway when his Uber ride pulled over to let out another passenger who had to throw up. Now the family is suing the ride-hailing company, alleging the driver’s negligence led to his death. The crash that killed 21-year-old Cory Hunter occurred just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, May 21. At the time, the California Highway Patrol only identified Hunter as a pedestrian who somehow had made it to the fast lane of the 91 near the Serfas Club Drive exit in Norco.
According to court documents, one of the friends there that night said the Uber driver started driving away, but eventually looped back on the 91 to continue looking for Hunter. They still could not find him.
