In 1961, the last Republican president with integrity, Dwight Eisenhower, warned against the gigantic power of the Military-Industrial Complex. Eisenhower's warning appears to have had little effect. But it was spot-on as a prediction of what was to come
:
The US has been engaged in nearly endless war since WWII. And the US has not won a war since WWII. In that time, we've had very few commander-in-chiefs either willing or able to resist the financial leverage of the war industries.
It would appear these wars are not intended to be won, but only prolonged, as long as possible, for profit.
Out of 105 wars since WWII, despite overwhelming military superiority, the US has not won a single one of them..
The only way to change this is to elect a majority of elected officials in Washington, responsible to their constituents instead of Big Money. As of now, we are far from that goal. With the exception of a few congressional Democrats, most lawmakers are on the take.
