I have no problem with a soverign state passing a law that rids itself of bail.  In fact, I have no problem with a soverign state passing a law that even decriminalizes theft and burglary.  Recall, back in the 1700's and even in the 1800's, for the most part, government did not get involved in protecting an individual's personal property.

What I do have a problem with is curtailing an individual's right to:

• own and easily access the means to which he can protect his property
• being allowed to defend one's property with deadly force, without criminal or civil penalty
• being allowed to form "neighborhood defense areas", where you can call on your neighbors to help defend property from thieves and burglars.
• prohibiting other states from denying licenses and services to residents from Illinois seeking to move away from the nastiness they created.

You have a point. Protecting myself without constraints would be more effective and enjoyable. Two mints in one.

These crimes are outside the new act:What crimes lead to an arrest?Police can still arrest and detain someone for committing a forcible felony.  Examples of forcible felonies include:

• First and second-degree murder
• Predatory criminal sexual assault of a child
• Aggravated criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual assault
• Robbery and burglary “where this is use of force against another person” 
• Residential burglary
• Home invasion 
• Vehicular invasion
• Offenses that require jail or prison time if charged, without probation
• Hate crimes
• Animal torture
• DUI causing great bodily harm

In America you have a right to a bond for non capital cases, and a right to a speedy trial, before a jury of twelve.

For non forcible felonies, let’s say the police bust a car chop shop ring, judges will still have discretion to set high cash bonds.

The intent of the Safe T Act is good

Where I think they’ll have problems is there’s not going to be any more bail bondsmen to go pick up a petty crook and toss him back in jail when he skips bond.

 From now on only violent criminals  must hire bail  bondsmen.

By the way, I’m surprised to see animal torture on te exempt list.

You might want to get a gun. I hear Taurus handguns are cheap right now. They seem your speed. Something that won't hurt your old wrists,maybe get a .38.

No cash bail... Isn't that what encourages shoplifting, camping aka tent cities, etc. etc?

Then the cities go to complete ****, decent people are displaced, stores close up, human debris rules, cops say **** it...

No bail policy at all is needed because no arrests are made. People die and those "exempt crimes" don't matter.

Progressives are so short-sighted and downright **** stupid.
Hard to believe they lead liberals around by the nose.
