Stocks rose on Wednesday, with the Dow extending its winning streak to eight days.

Investors are hoping for more upbeat earnings reports for the second quarter.

Big tech firms including Tesla, Netflix, and IBM are set to report after the closing bell.
Stocks rose Wednesday as earnings season ramped up, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average notching its eighth consecutive gain.
Blue chips are now in their longest winning streak since September 2019 and are at their highest level since early 2022.
Investors are hoping for more upbeat earnings amid a strong reporting season so far. Of the S&P 500 companies that have released their financials for the second quarter, 80% have reported earnings above analysts' estimates, FactSet data shows.

Biden has cut the deficit in half, from 2.8 trillion down to 1.4 trillion.

Plus the Fed has raised rates.

I lived through the 1973-4 recession.

I was a teenaged kid then, but people not old enough to remember it simply cannot imagine the sheer dispair and gloom that caused and poor old Jerry Ford took the blame.

The economy recovered a little in 75-6 but not enough to save Jerry Ford.

By 1977 and 1978 the economy was good, although inflation was high.

Jimmy Carter was riding high.

Carter would have won 1980 in a landslide except for Iran taking hostages and the price of oil tripling and interest rates going sky high, in 1979.

People vote their wallets.

Last year was bad, this year is good, and if next year is as wonderful as 1984 was Biden will win so many states the election will be called early on election night.

But it all depends on what times are, in the fall of 2024

It is not really Biden’s doing.

Had Trump won in 2020 Trump might not have passed an infrastructure bill (although Trump did want, an infrastructure bill).

The big reason inflation is a third of last year and stocks are at two year highs is no more Covid.  Covid is over, done.

The end of Covid is why Biden’s deficits are half what Trump’s deficits.  No more Covid spending.

The economy is growing at a whopping 6% level with 3% inflation and unemployment at 3 per cent something.

There are help wanted signs up everywhere.

All this could have happened under Trump had Trump won.

But Brandon won.

If times keep getting better (they might not) then next year Biden may recycle Reagan’s 1984 Morning in America ad.

At this rate Biden (or any Democrat if he croaks) will not  just win, he’ll win in a landslide, of about 400 electoral votes.

The Republicans had better pray for a recession

Since you mentioned Tesla we should note that it it's down almost 10% today. Only took a minute to look but it doesn't look like a good day for the market.

A person could make a bundle if they had some leverage in Ukraine though. Just ask the Bidens.

Why, is always the question?
  • Shares of electric auto maker Tesla fell by more than 7% on Thursday.
  • Tesla CEO Elon Musk and other execs on the earnings call warned production would slow down during Q3 due to shutdowns for factory improvements.
  • Investors soured on initially positive results due to imprecise commentary from CEO Elon Musk and other executives on the company's latest vehicle, Cybertruck, and a planned robotaxi-ready car.
Tesla is on sale.

Want to buy?

At this rate by November 2024 they’ll be making over 2 million units a year.

The Tesla plug seems the standard all other EVs will use.

Unless some damned fool thing like the Iranian Hostage Crisis takes a **** on Uncle Joe’s parade,
