Near Lake Baikal, the biggest lake in the world

I have a Baikal (IZH) O/U 12 gauge. While it doesn't enjoy anything close to the reputation of the "B" guns, I have to say that it's actually been a fun, durable, reliable O/U for skeet shooting. I think I paid about $300 for it.  Always wondered why it was called "Baikal" - don't think it has anything to do with the big lake, as I'm sure the factory is nowhere near there.  Anyway, pretty basic, a tad heavy, but the fit and finish and accuracy is perfectly fine.

Izhevsk is 1500 miles west of Lake Baikal in the Urals region.  So the name is a mystery.  Maybe owners child hood home.
