if he used the lie to get money /donations that is illegal, if he said to  defame someone, something that is illegal, and he used it to cause the insurrection.

What issurection, it was a civil protest hell of a lot tamer than the riots during the previous year taking place by those voting for Biden. Every video I saw on that insurrection was Police and security tripping over their own feet directing people to where they wanted to be.

It was all an act to set the stage for everything that came after the event.

Trump is not charged with storming the Capitol.

He’s charged with conspiring with six others to gather alternate slates of electors and have Mike Pence not count the real ones and count the bogus ones.

It’s peacetime treason.

Subversion of the constitution.

Negation of the votes of 150 million Americans on both sides.

It’s bad, really bad.

Trump isn’t charged with violence.

There never was any violence intended, by Trump.

What he’s charged with is conspiring to peacefully steal an election.  

He knew damned well he’d lost and so did all his family and every sane advisor Trump had.  He knew the votes were not stolen from him, knew the jig was up, and knew to step down.

So he hired Rudy and five other nut jobs to assemble seven false slates of alternate electors, and they would present those to Mike Pence, who would count the fake electors instead of the real ones.

The violence happened when Pence would not go along.

That explains the mob chanting Hang Mike Pence.

 How will Fox spin Trump and gang trying to steal New Mexico, a rather blue state, by any measure.
