Minnesota to expand its grant program for electric school buses... The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is expanding a grant program for districts to transition from diesel-fueled to battery-powered buses this year, earmarking nearly $3 million to support grants up to $375,000 for the purchase. The funding is from the state's share of a national settlement with Volkswagen for violating the federal emissions law. It began with a pilot project that kickstarted last school year, which five school districts participated in.

It seems the only way to fund them is by state and federal grants as there's no way a private bus company could afford them...or just charge the school districts 4x the fee...wtf..."green energy"? ya, it takes a lot of green to utilize...

I looked this up, and it’s true today a large Ev school bus is about $400,000 and the short busses for MAGA kids are $200,000, which is about four times more than diesel.

Why is this?

The bus makers have been making the standard school bus now, without changing tooling, for about fifty years. New electrics have a tiny market and each unit must amortize development costs.

But the electrics on 14 cents a mile, the diesels cost 49 cents, and the electrics will last until Christ comes.

City transit EV busses have fallen from 1.2 million to $400,000 in a decade. The electric school busses will see similar declines.

Plus they don’t need a drunken mechanic at the bus barn with girlie pictures all over the walls. There is not really anything to maintain on the electrics.

bus makers not changing tooling? buses are made of components...buses would be easier to retrofit just because of the sheer lack of volume...

post price per mile comparisons from a legit source, not your lips...

explain how how an electric bus will last until Christ comes  while a diesel won't...

the drunken mechanics with "girlie pictures" will actually increase...I spoke with a 30 yr head mechanic from a GM dealership last week who stated electric cars suck to work on and the Cadillac is the worst. He stated behind the shiny paint and leather in the space behind the rear seat is wall to wall electrical components, modules and miles upon miles of wires to find breaks, loose connections and intermittently bad modules..."a real nightmare" were his exact words...schooling, which used to be annual, is now quarterly...all setting the stage for you to really get **** when troubles arise and you're out of warranty...couple that with today's log of pantywaisted youth who don't want to work, much less be a mechanic lacking any mechanical mental acuity and "Houston, we have a problem...."

Maybe you can get Bruce to talk about how the high prices of new gas cars are due to subsidizing the cost of new electric vehicles.

who knows how much money the feds and states dole out for incentives not only for vehicles, but infrastructure as well...hundreds of billions I'm sure...all on our dime...wtf?
I'd be interested to know what the battery life is on one of these units and at 4x the cost, what the actual ROI is...

My father who was born in 1904 would say that the School Buses were made in Russia.

High gas prices in but then low fuel consumption vehicles shipped out.  70 mpg vehicles are produced in USA but only for shipment to other areas of the world.

Biden warns people to not get confused, sending tanks and nuclear capable planes to Ukraine will be WWIII.
Ukrainians lights are out, USA citizens will probably need want a flex fuel vehicle that will run on alcohol, or a flex fuel conversion kit for multipart fuel injection engines.
