Those electors were not “alternate”
They were certified as real, sent to Washington D C and the plot was to have Mike Pence count those instead of the real ones.
If just one man, Mike Pence, had done what Trump requested we’d have lost our constitutional republic.
Every plotter ought to be lined up against a wall and shot, on television.
But since that would not be constitutional they must face justice in court, and suffer the penalties
Hawaii isn't Georgia or Michigan.Beekeeper » 16 Aug 2023, 7:43 am » wrote: ↑ Never happened, ****!!
Next.
Your claim is not even part of the indictment, either, so you LOSE on both counts. AN ALTERNATE SLATE OF ELECTORS IS NOT AN ILLEGAL ACT!! Hawaii did the SAME THING in 1960. And it's been done since.
This sounds an awful lot like you are trying to say that it's only illegal when the political opposition does it... specifically anyone remotely related to the Bad Orange Man.Squatchman » 16 Aug 2023, 11:24 am » wrote: ↑ Hawaii isn't Georgia or Michigan.
The dummy electors are facing real prison time.
They'll be squealing soon enough, the youngest in Michigan is 55. The oldest is 82. I'm certain they aren't going to want to spend the remaining years left to them fending off the butt **** in prison.
No, you probably have not heard much about the Pence Card.RedheadedStranger » 16 Aug 2023, 11:37 am » wrote: ↑ This sounds an awful lot like you are trying to say that it's only illegal when the political opposition does it... specifically anyone remotely related to the Bad Orange Man.
Given the fact that all you just did was copy and paste someone else's words from Wikipedia, I highly that you have any idea of what you're talking about in the first place.Bruce » 16 Aug 2023, 12:10 pm » wrote: ↑ No, you probably have not heard much about the Pence Card.
In 1960 there were recounts that actually gave JFK Hawaii.
But all the recounts were over and done, all the frivolous lawsuits had failed, and when all the real electors met on December 14 the election was constitutionally over except for Mike Pence counting the votes on January 6.
What was the Pence Card?"Pence Card" conspiracy Main articles: Eastman memos and Trump fake electors plotBeginning in late December, false legal theories went viral on pro-Trump social media suggesting that Vice President Pence could invoke a "Pence Card", a supposed legal loophole that would enable him, in his capacity as president of the Senate, to reject pro-Biden electoral votes from contested swing states on the grounds that they had been cast by fraudulently appointed electors.[332][333] These theories originated from Ivan Raiklin, an attorney and former Green Beretwho was among a small group of military-intelligence veterans associated with Michael Flynn who were instrumental in spreading false information alleging the 2020 election had been stolen from Trump.[182][108][334]The theory stems from a misreading of 3 U.S.C. § 12, which directs the vice president to request electoral vote certificates from any state that has not yet sent these votes to the National Archives by the fourth Wednesday in December. Under the theory, Pence had unilateral authority to declare that state certificates from contested states had not in fact been received, and that new certificates (presumably supporting President Trump) should be issued.[335][336]Trump retweeted a post of Raiklin's calling for the invocation of the Pence Card on December 23,[108] the day specified in statute, but Pence took no action consistent with the theory. In late December, Pence called former vice president Dan Quayle for advice, and Quayle told him (according to reporters Bob Woodward and Robert Costa): "Mike, you have no flexibility on this. None. Zero. ... I do know the position you're in. I also know what the law is. ... You have no power."
Once more, an indictment against Trump that's an utter perversion of the law based on weak evidence and inapplicable legal principles, is presented by the MSM as a total 'finally gotcha Trump'. I'd be bored to tears if the ramifications of what's taking place weren't so **** terrifying.Beekeeper » 16 Aug 2023, 7:14 am » wrote: ↑ Pretty much, this is NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF WHINY *** LIBERALS making another INVENTION from nothing.
Trump broke NO LAWS and it will be PROVEN AS MUCH and this case WILL BE DISMISSED in short order.
The indictment sets out in detail statements that were made by the defendants about voter fraud in Georgia and other states, all of which are alleged to be false. Of course, in the wake of the election, there were many claims of voter fraud. Some of these proved to be true, I think, while others proved to be incorrect. But so what? It is not, in general, a crime to make false statements. If it were, Washington would be a ghost town.
The second main thrust of the indictment involves the fact that Trump and his “co-conspirators” arranged for an alternate slate of pro-Trump electors to be identified in Georgia. The indictment recites efforts by Trump and others to convince officials in Georgia and other states to certify his alternate slates, or otherwise to reverse the apparent results of the election in a particular state. These alternate electors were selected, as White House adviser Stephen Miller explained, to preserve Trump’s rights in the event that one or more of his legal challenges succeeded: “As we speak, today, an alternate slate of electors in the contested states is going to vote and we’re going to send those results up to Congress,” he continued. “This will ensure that all of our legal remedies remain open. That means that if we win these cases in the courts, that we can direct that the alternate state of electors be certified.”
I don’t think that such alternate elector slates are unprecedented, and in any event there is nothing illegal about identifying such would-be electors, however futile it might be.
[…]
“Overt Act 6” is a typical example of these allegations:
On or about the 21st day of November, 2020, MARK RANDALL MEADOWS sent a text message to United States Representative Scott Perry from Pennsylvania and stated, “Can you send me the number for the Speaker and the leader of PA legislature. POTUS wants to chat with them.” This was an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy.
But again, so what? Taking legal steps to try to overturn the apparent result of an election is not illegal. That is what Al Gore did. It is what Stacey Abrams did. It is how Al Franken got into the Senate. In Trump’s case, his legal arguments were uniformly weak. But it is not a crime to make a bad legal argument. If it were, the U.S. would be suffering from a shortage of lawyers.

No SQUATTY, they aren't. There is NO LAW that you can cite that says "an alternate slate of electors is illegal" in ANY STATE IN THE NATION!!Squatchman » 16 Aug 2023, 11:24 am » wrote: ↑ Hawaii isn't Georgia or Michigan.
