The court is making decisions based on the GOP platform, not the Constitution, says legal scholar Khiara M. Bridges.

The U.S. Supreme Court, whose current ideological leanings are extremely reactionary, has spearheaded a broad national regression on human rights.

Indeed, the United States is a global outlier on multiple fronts (the only wealthy nation without a universal health care system and number one in firearms per capita, to name just a few), and some of the latest Supreme Court rulings (on abortion, guns and affirmative action) are turning the country into “a global pariah.”

How do we make sense of these utterly dangerous developments?

First of all, why is the Supreme Court acting like the executive committee of the Republican Party?

Are there even clean legal arguments upon which its rulings are based?

In this exclusive interview for Truthout, renowned law professor and anthropologist Khiara M. Bridges, who specializes in the intersection of race, class, reproductive justice and law, shares her insights into the issues raised above and offers some legal remedies that she believes will help achieve racial justice and equality in the 21st century.

The Supreme Courts role has always been to interpret Constitutional Law based on their learned OPINIONS.
Their opinions are always going to align with either the Liberal or the Conservative platforms.
So IOW..there really isn't anything news worthy about this thread...just an article written by a  hysterical little queer bitch and subsequently posted here by another hysterical little queer bitch.

Interesting article.

It's almost like the Democrats haven't used any lawyers for the last 40 years to push political agendas in the courts.
I get it though, Trump handed them their *** and he's not even a lawyer or a politician.

Sit tight for awhile,,,,,,

At issue with Trump is Section 3 of the amendment, which bars from office anyone who, having previously sworn an oath to support the Constitution, has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.

He was supporting the constitution by calling for investigations into the fraudulent 2020 election and asking Pence to not certify until such investigations were held.
idiot.
And because Pence did  not do his duty as VP to protect this Republic from Democrat  Tyranny  ......The country is **** now.....and ran by a Dictatorship  of tyrannical enemies of "We The People".....

by all rights, all SCOTUS decisions s/b based solely on constitutional merit without any political influences...and must be applied down line to the county level...

It's hilarous to watch liberals kick their own asses like this.
The Constitution says NOTHING about race, class and reproductive justice, except that alll citizens must be treated the same.
Liberalism is all about class warfare, and racial hatred.

What sucks for liberals is that the Constitution doesn't give the Federal Government the power to inflict universal healthcare on it's citizens, but it DOES protect our right to keep and bear arms.

wrong on first count ........ we the people are the government thus universal health care aka Single Payer should be decided by the people NOT politicians and special interest money.

second count should be ripped apart and written more specifically = the USA does not need military level gun power on the streets. Every day results demonstrate too many humans do not have the discipline to own them.
