I own a civilian legal version of the Armalite rifle , but the one I want, is a Pre May 86 M-16.  But my generic semi automatic AR cost $400 and a real one that has a full auto selector switch costs about ten times more and I’d have to register it as a machine gun and pay a $200 tax.

I own a legal machine gun, only $400.  Cool.

It’s lots of fun to play with at the range, and I’ve even deer hunted with it, although the .223 caliber is a better  varmit round.

The radical left wing black female mayor of St Louis is sending me a message not to take my legal machine gun to St Louis.  

Since I avoid encounters with cell doors slamming in the St Louis jailhouse and losing all my guns and toys and stuff, I’m leaving my legal machine gun at home, when my wife and I visit St Louis.

So pretend a minute a court won’t strike this law down as a violation of Missouri’s preemption statute, I want to know if one gun you like out of dozens you own, is worth becoming a criminal over?

Would you go to jail over losing your privilege to own a legal machine gun?

She said she expects the same treatment with the new legislation. But she said people wanted something done.

My answer is the government has never, ever tried to come and confiscate all the Thompson submachine guns they required to be registered and pay a $200 tax in 1934.

Those cops you see on the shoulders are not Andy of Mayberry, they surely are not.

I don’t take a pocketknife to St Louis.

Because the Armalite rifles with a selector switch are NFA machine guns.

Mine is only semi auto, no switch.

Liberals  don’t know real NFA Pre May 86 registered  machine guns are legal in Missouri.  They don’t know the difference between a clip and a magazine. 

MAGAS don’t know the only parts different between my AR and an M16 is the sear and selector switch.  That is it.

The government that can outlaw your M16 can outlaw it without a selector switch.

Bruce, an M16 would cost you more than 100 times, not 10 times what an AR sells for.  A steel registered DIAS sells for around $50,000 now.   Registered/converted pre-86 AR receivers sell for over $30,000.

You cannot register any full-auto machine gun now.  The deadline for registration closed in 1986.  It would "transfer" to you on a BATFE Form 3 or Form 4.

If you are in St. Louis and already own a federally registered machine gun, they cannot pass a law to dispossess you of the gun, it would have to be grandfathered in. As for Cities that do not allow you to move into the city with a registered full-auto machine gun, there are already plenty of those. BATFE will not approve you for relocating to that area with a machine gun, so you will be blocked before you even get there.

To answer your question, if I lived in St. Louis and already own a legally registered machine gun, I would fight any law that would try to dispossess me of it.  No, I would not turn it in!  In fact, turning a machine gun which has been legally transferred to you "in" to ANYONE, would be illegal.  You are required to retain possession of the machine gun until it is lawfully transferred to someone else on a Form 3 or 4.

Most legislators know nothing about guns, machine guns or gun laws.  They are complete idiots.  And, the journalists that attempt to report on these matters are even bigger idiots.
