Are we supposed to be surprised that the reasons below are possible? They are not only possible, they are the real reasons. Duh.
There are a few possible reasons why Biden avoids questions from the press.
  • One possibility is that he is trying to avoid making mistakes. He is a gaffe-prone president, and he may be concerned that he will say something that will hurt his presidency if he answers questions from reporters off-the-cuff.
  • Another possibility is that he is trying to control the message. He may believe that he can better control what the public knows about his presidency if he only speaks to reporters when he is prepared.
  • A third possibility is Biden’s dwindling physical and mental energy. At 80 years old, Biden is the oldest president in U.S. history. When he receives a tough question, such as those from Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, he often grows agitated. “I knew you’d have a lousy question,” Biden snapped at Doocy who recently asked about his involvement in his son Hunter’s business activity.
Whatever the reason, Biden’s avoidance of questions from the press has been criticized by journalists and many members of the public. Critics argue that it is important for the president to be accountable to the people, and that he cannot do that if he is not willing to answer their questions.
