They did look in the mirror.  After they saw the scars on themselves, and the researchers said that they needed to touch it up a little more. During the touch-up they removed the scars without them knowing.

I was first amazed as to your sexist reason as to why you don't believe it. Because you don't think women would check themselves in the mirror first.        You are clueless as to how sexist that is. However, then I realized that you were a lefty and that explained a lot.

You missed the whole point, not a question of believing it or not, it is all about obeying those that make it happen getting ancestries to compromise away their biological time left adapting in the moment here to serve pretending now isn't eternity in plain sight.

Not about which side, it is about all sides make sure nobody is allowed to explain living in real time. Unity in equity is nothing about equally alive adapting as displaced ancestrally here now.
