The Justice Department announced Thursday it has started a process to expand the definition of a firearm dealer and make it clear that sellers at gun shows and flea markets and who sell through the mail are required to obtain specific approvals and run background checks before selling guns.

The Justice Department announced the submission of a proposed federal rule that will still have to undergo a public comment submission period as a part of the approval process. It's a move the administration is making to close the so-called "gun show loophole," and ensure that gun sales entail background checks. If approved, the proposed rule would affect how guns are sold under federal law, and expand background check requirements to cover more sellers. Last year, Congress passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which directed the Justice Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to look at federal rule definitions for firearms. This process is the result.

there were no loopholes.
all guns sold by dealers, no matter at gun shows or online, had/have to go thru the complete process.

Proving you idiots have never been to a gun show.
Oh, and anyone selling guns in the mail... already have to do that.  When you mail a gun, it has to go to a licensed FFL dealer, who has to do the background check.

**** liberals are ignorant.

It's really quite stunning how ignorant liberals are about the subjects they are most passionate about.

Only idiots go to gun shows. Overpriced crap. Buy ammo cheaper online. And guns from private party or sales.

I’ve sold many a gun at a gun show.

How it works is the FFL dealers have to do background checks but I don’t.

What Joe is doing, is there are dealers at every show that make a living selling guns without an FFL.

He’s stopping that ****.

that isn't what your post said.  you said "dealers"

private sales! don't think SCOTUS will let BATF change laws to suit them or Biden......laws come from Congress.

but, I guess there is always an outside chance.  throw crap against the wall enough, some will stick.

and there are millions of I's out there.
