Barely. KC is 44-97 and OAK is 43-97. As a Nevadan, not too excited about the Oakland A's moving to Las Vegas.

I do not mind Oakland. Been there 4 times for concerts and as of yet, seems ok. However, I do not think it is going to be a success in LV. I could lay it all out but playing day games in Las Vegas in August.. no thank you.

Weather was always to the excuse, but teams continue to play in warm weather cities.

Las Vegas in August is quite unpleasant. The foot traffic in Las Vegas does not happen at 1 pm... folks wait until sunset.

The Oakland Athletics were once the Kansas City Athletics.
As a rule, teams are moved because the owners think that attendance will be better elsewhere.
The whole idea that pro sports teams authentically represent a city is bogus. The players are normally not from the town, nor are the owners.

In this case, the Oakland A's saw dwindling attendance due to a cheap owner. Yes, they made the playoffs at times since their last WS. However, continually operating on a shoestring budget and being the hard-luck loser does not provoke excitement. They were continually trading away their top prospects as soon as they were set to get a pay raise. The owner being cheap extends to his unwillingness to upgrade the stadium. He expected/demanded that public funds be the main funding source. Lastly, they have seen stagnating/dwindling population in Oakland as they move out to the suburbs east of the Bay (Fairfield, Vacaville, Novato, and Martinez).
