Did you know Gym Jordan was twice state wrestling champion in the 134 pound weight class when he was in college?

James Daniel Jordan (born February 17, 1964) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Ohio's 4th congressional district since 2007. A member of the Republican Party, Jordan is a former collegiate wrestler and college wrestling coach.

Jordan was born and raised in Champaign County, Ohio, the son of Shirley and John Jordan.[3] He attended and wrestled for Graham High School, graduating in 1982.[4] He won state championships all four years he was in high school and compiled a 156–1 win–loss record.[5] He then enrolled at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he became a two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion.[6] Jordan won the 1985 and 1986 NCAA championship matches in the 134-pound (61 kg) weight class.[7][8] He graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics in 1986. He lost the 126–137-pound (57–62 kg) featherweight semifinal match at the 1988 US Olympic wrestling trials, failing to qualify for the Olympic team in freestyle wrestling.

Wonder if he still does any wrestling today or, dod he outgrow the hobby?

Past, as I understand it from listening to a young college boy back almost fifty years ago explaining to us other boys how that **** works  is they use an athletic cup and if one boy grabs another down there it’s a foul or something.

They had a practice piano in that dorm lobby where all the fair maidens from the Conservatory of Music played and I tended to gravitate over there and rustle through the sheet music until I found appropriate songs my grandmother played.

Those girls were always delighted to play those, so I could sing,  you know?

I got aquatinted with lots of piano players in that lobby, that way.

Wrestling requires more intense training and physical stamina than playing football.

I did both in 9th and 10th grades, and then discovered that drinking beer, getting high, and chasing women was a LOT more fun.

Playing football and the associated practices was hell of a lot easier than wrestling, hands down.
 
I couldn't see not only doing it on the collegiate level, but excelling to the top of the heap in the State in doing so.

That is a hell of an accomplishment for Mr Jordan in my book.
 

Wrestling is a great form of self-defense. Especially if you combine it with Ju Jit Su.

Gym Jordan was a tiny guy who weighed 124 pounds.

I outweighed that poor wrestling flute playing boy by sixty pounds.  And in 1976 I could toss a thousand hay bales a day up in a barn loft.
  
One of the reasons I could chase away the bullies that pestered him was I was bigger and tougher than the bullies.

I can’t imagine all the **** Gym Jordan took.

But somebody **** up to let him coach other wrestling boys.  And bad.
