Escaped inmate's encounter with homeowner is believed to be a "crime of opportunity," state police sayFrom CNN's Kristina Sgueglia Pennsylvania State Police say they believe the escaped inmate knows where he is as he has been in the area before, adding that they believe Danelo Cavalcante’s encounter with the homeowner was a “crime of opportunity.”

The homeowner encountered Cavalcante in his garage and fired several shots at him using a pistol, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said. There is no indication Calvacante was injured as a result of the shooting.
“I think he went in there probably trying to hide, the garage door was open — he didn’t, I believe, recognize that the owner was in there. He was probably looking for a place to hide, ran for that garage, saw the firearm, grabbed that, encountered the homeowner and fled with the firearm,” said Bivens.
Detailing the "very strong" perimeter of search, Bivens said “it will take a long time to clear that entire area.”“No perimeter is ever 100% impenetrable,” he added, saying police will do their “very best” to capture him.

Answer this--
The Dem Party cannot disarm the Black Tribe.
But, through laws, the Dems seek to disarm
the White Americans who obey laws.
Why is that ?

Where is your source that states the escaped inmate has a pistol.  The only link in your post is not relevant.

In your post, it states the homeowner fired several shots at Cavalcante...not the other way around (see portion highlighted in red).  So where is the link saying the inmate is now armed?

CNN was too ashamed to tell the entire story:

Escaped convict Danelo Cavalcante was shot at by a homeowner Monday night who found him in the garage stealing a rifle, authorities said.

The homeowner called police at 10:10 p.m. ET to say that a short Hispanic man wearing no shirt and dark pants had entered the garage while the homeowner was in it and grabbed a .22 rifle leaning in the corner, George Bivins with the Pennsylvania State Police said Tuesday morning at a news briefing. The homeowner opened fire at the man, who was said by police to be Cavalcante, several times as he “fled with the rifle.”
Police responded to the home on Coventryville Road within minutes, but Cavalcante was gone. Bivins said he believed Cavalcante, 34, who has been on the run since Aug. 31, was unharmedhttps://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna104566

Question

Why would both Fox and CNN leave out the shocking details?

I’ll bet the State Police and the homeowner are going to soon have, a Heart to Heart Talk:

Sing one Tommy!

Hey Deezer,

There was this guy, in the middle of a manhunt, and he was sitting in his garage and son of a bitch, the little brown guy they were hunting appeared as if by magic.

And the next thing you know the brown guy steals a loaded .22 rifle and the homeowner must have missed.

No blood trail.

Smart police work there, yep, sure is.

First of all...there are so many  cheap but effective power tools available that very few "gun safes" are safe from being opened by a thief.
The best tactic IMO is clever concealment of a pistol inside a false wall, inside a grandfather clock, inside an appliance, or inside built in cabinetry.
A shotgun of course is going to take more skill and imagination to hide...but if there's a will, there's a way.
You only need to be a wee bit smarter than the average Groid to get 'er done.
