sitting on top of battery packs. after about 30 minutes you start to sweat. turn on the air condition and electric car seat gets hotter, as you run down the battery pack. i was in an electric when the outside temperature was 78f and the inside of the electric car was 93f.

Lithium Ion Batteries are also known as LIBs..and LIBs are well known for experiencing INTERNAL SHORT CIRCUITS and MELT DOWNS...

Folks ooooh and aaaaaah over lithium car-b-q's, but have no problem carrying a cell phone in their pocket next to their private parts.   I tried to remove a battery from a dead cell phone once and nearly burned a building down. I must have shorted the little flat battery that I was trying to pry out of the plastic case and it exploded and ignited into a fire that was impossible to put out.  I put the flaming thing in a box and ran out of the building with it.  Yes, the box caught on fire too. Anything that phone touched caught on fire.  It burned hotter than hell  for about 5-10 minutes.
 
 
 

voltage goes down, amperage goes up! Ohms law. good formula for a fire.
don't these cars have circuit breakers?
at least a low voltage cutoff.

I'm probably the youngest guy here and I barely bother with a phone.

All technology has limits.. not going to be perfect.

A recently detached battery from a car that had been stored in the parking lot was “quickly identified as having sparked the blaze”, Fire and Rescue NSW said.

It looks like some car battery was left out which sparked the rest of the cars.

parked in the sun, on blacktop or concrete? did you think to roll down the windows or open the sunroof without sliding it back?

I see so many things you omit to create facts for your talking point. Same thing can be said with the exhaust under the center of the car with the engine running becomes a heating element of an oven.
