the last time that I worked in a union setting, we had zero illegals on the crew. There was one where he misspelled his own name and therefore his payroll stuff and his immigration paperwork did not match. He had legally immigrated 10 years before this. The primary issue (and one that led to the factory closing in 2003 and still empty) was wages. The company did not want to modernize the factory and so had a lot of production delays due to faulty, old equipment. Their idea was that instead of modernizing at incredible expense...they would cut costs by lowering wages. Union said no and that was the end of it.

The CEO's compensation is irrelevant...as well as the profits of the company. The matter at hand is what the UAW members will be paid. If it were me, I would never agree to a 32 hour week but pay for 40 hours. And I would never agree to bring back the pension. Pensions are quickly becoming a thing of the past. If the UAW wants a pension so bad, let the UAW set one up for it's members. When the government subsidies die, your battery car should cost about $250K......better get that CEO job you're bitching about so you can afford it.
