AAPS Statement: Mask Mandates Do Not Prevent Spread of Respiratory Viruses, They Cause Harm, and Violate the Right to Informed Consent

Government recommendations and mandates regarding face coverings have been contradictory, provided to the public as authoritative without evidence, are in conflict with the available data, and neglect to mention any potential harm from use of coverings or masks.

Concerning efficacy, in addition to the indisputable failure of mask mandates to prevent outbreaks of COVID, the Cochrane systematic review of available empirical evidence concluded that studies “did not show a clear reduction in respiratory viral infection with the use of medical/surgical masks,” and  “[t]here were no clear differences between the use of medical/surgical masks compared with N95/P2 respirators in healthcare workers when used in routine care to reduce respiratory viral infection.”

Concerning the potential for harm, there are at least 60 studies and reports that illuminate downsides of masking and face-coverings in different scenarios and among varied patient groups. Examples of harm found in the peer-reviewed literature, include:

This isn't the AMA.  It is a right lobbying organization.

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) is a politically conservative non-profit association that promotes conspiracy theories and medical misinformation , such as HIV/AIDS denialism, the abortions breast cancer conspiracy theory, and vaccine and autism connections. The association was founded in 1943 to oppose a government attempt to nationalize health care. The group has included notable members, including American Republican politicians Ron Paul, Rand Paul, and, and Tom Price.

AAPS Fights to Preserve Medical Freedom! The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, AAPS,  has been fighting the good fight to preserve the  practice of private medicine since 1943.  When the Clinton health plan was proposed, we fought for open meetings.  And when the details came to light, the plan was halted.

In the current battle over health care “reform,” the AAPS helped organize numerous physician rallys and has a pending lawsuit suit in the DC Federal District Court challenging the constitutionality of the ObamaCare insurance mandate.

AAPS Stands up for Physicians! The AAPS legal team defends doctors who have been mugged by Medicare, or railroaded by hospitals using sham peer review.  We sued the Texas Medical Board in defense of physicians’ due process rights; this suit is now on appeal. We drafted legislation for reform of the Texas medical practice act and are fighting for its enactment.

AAPS Helps Physicians Reduce and Eliminate Third Party Interference! The AAPS seminar, “Thrive Don’t Just Survive,” has reached doctors all over the country who wish to leave the hassles of Medicare and  the interference of managed care and start a cash practice.  We have helped hundreds of doctors opt out of Medicare through information on our website and our limited legal consultation service. We challenged the HIPAA “Privacy Rule,” and got the government to acknowledge the “country doctor exemption” for physicians who do not file claims electronically.

AMA is left wing propaganda.

The American Medical Association is a non-profit business that garners perhaps 80% of its annual revenue from business activities, including the sale of coding Medicare books and the receipt of advertisements from pharmaceutical companies.

It purports to speak on behalf of physicians when in fact only a small fraction of physicians are dues-paying members. Its politics are increasingly liberal, and President George W. Bush ended a tradition of speeches to the group by United States Presidents.

The AMA was once a critic of partial-birth abortion but now sides with pro-abortion forces. It is a strong supporter of the liberal "hot button" of gun control, even endorsing a full "assault" rifle ban. While the AMA narrowly voted to oppose advocating outright for single-payer healthcare, it continued supporting policies that would lead to single-payer, including expanding ObamaCare.

Leading up to the 2008 presidential election, AAPS published an article claiming that then-candidate Barack Obama was captivating his audiences through hypnosis.[46][47]  Obama's speeches were analyzed for neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) techniques, based on the work of 20th century American psychologist Milton Erickson,[48] including "extra slow speech, rhythm, tonalities, vagueness, visual imagery, metaphor, and raising of emotion", as well as the use of the "O" in Obama's logo as a "point of visual fixation".[49

Rush Limbaugh drug charges
Edit
In 2004, AAPS filed a brief on behalf of conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh in Florida's Fourth District Court of Appeal, opposing the seizure of his medical files in an investigation of drug charges for Limbaugh's alleged misuse of prescription drugs. The AAPS stated the seizure was a violation of state law and that "It is not a crime for a patient to be in pain and repeatedly seek relief, and doctors should not be turned against patients they tried to help."[77]

Tobacco
Edit
Philip Morris executives worked with AAPS executive director Jane Orient to help oppose growing support for indoor smoking bans in the early 2000s.[18] In the fall of 2009, economist Michael Marlow published an article in AAPS' journal arguing that tobacco tax would decrease public health when people "switch to higher tar and nicotine brands as they smoke less."[78]

Immigration and leprosy
Edit
In a 2005 article, Madeleine Cosman argued that illegal immigrants were carriers of disease, and that immigrants and "anchor babies" were launching a "stealthy assault on [American] medicine."[72] In the article, Cosman claimed that "Suddenly, in the past 3 years America has more than 7,000 cases of leprosy" because of illegal aliens.[72] The journal's leprosy claim was cited and repeated by Lou Dobbs as evidence of the dangers of illegal immigration.[73][74]

Publicly available statistics show that the 7,000 cases of leprosy occurred during the past 30 years, not the past three as Cosman claimed.[75] James Krahenbuhl, director of the U.S. government's leprosy program, stated that there had been no significant increase in leprosy cases, and that "It [leprosy] is not a public health problem—that's the bottom line."[74] National Public Radio reported that the article "had footnotes that did not readily support allegations linking a recent rise in leprosy rates to illegal immigrants."[73] The article's erroneous leprosy claim was pointed out by 60 Minutes,[76] National Public Radio,[73] and The New York Times.[74] As of 2020, the article remained on the journal's website without having been corrected.[72]

COVID-19 and hydroxychloroquine
Edit
Hydroxychloroquine was an early failed experimental treatment for COVID-19.[49] It is not effective for preventing infection.[52][53][54][55][56] Several countries initially used chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine for treatment of persons hospitalized with COVID‑19, and from April to June 2020, there was an emergency use authorization (EUA) for its use in the United States,[57] and was used off label for potential treatment of the disease.[58] On 24 April 2020, citing the risk of "serious heart rhythm problems", the FDA posted a caution against using the drug for COVID‑19 "outside of the hospital setting or a clinical trial".[59]

In June, hydroxychloroquine proved to have no benefit for hospitalized patients with severe COVID-19 illness in the international Solidarity trial and UK RECOVERY Trial.[60][61] On 15 June, the FDA revoked a previously-granted EUA, stating that it was "no longer reasonable to believe" that the drug was effective against COVID-19 or that its benefits outweighed "known and potential risks".[62][63]

In the same month, AAPS filed a lawsuit against the Food and Drug Administration to "end its arbitrary interference with the use of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ)."[64][65] The group's position was used to justify President Donald Trump taking HCQ as protection against COVID-19 by his campaign manager Brad Parscale.[66] Several AAPS members and supporters went on the record advocating for HCQ as an effective treatment against COVID-19, led by Ukrainian-American physician Vladimir Zelenko with a three-drug regimen of off-label hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and Azithromycin as part of an experimental outpatient treatment for COVID-19 that became known as the Zelenko Protocol.[67] Early in the pandemic, the experimental treatment had received broad recognition from Sean Hannity, Rudy Giuliani, and Mark Meadows, elevating Zelenko to minor celebrity status in conservative political circles.[68] Other prominent AAPS-affiliated advocates include Simone Gold of America's Frontline Doctors,[69] Niran Al-Agba of Physicians for Patient Protection,[70] and former AAPS president Marilyn Singleton.

I read a while back that the AMA only represents around 10% of the licensed medical professionals in this Country.

It's basically a lobbying outfit for the pharmacutical industry.

The older I get the more I’m certain every good parent should buy their child a set of World Books the fall they turn four years old.

Why this is so important is a four year old child should know their alphabet but not yet be able to read.

So when they ask their mother about growing up to become a doctor their mother can say please fetch me the World Book P, for physician.

——

A physician (American English), medical practitioner (Commonwealth English), medical doctor, or simply doctor, is a health professional who practices medicine, which is concerned with promoting, maintaining or restoring health through the study, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of disease, injury, and other physical and mental impairments. Physicians may focus their practice on certain disease categories, types of patients, and methods of treatment—known as specialities—or they may assume responsibility for the provision of continuing and comprehensive medical care to individuals, families, and communities—known as general practice.[2] Medical practice properly requires both a detailed knowledge of the academic disciplines, such as anatomy and physiology, underlying diseases and their treatment—the science of medicine—and also a decent competence in its applied practice—the art or craft of medicine.

Over 71 million Americans voted in 2020 for a man so evil he refused to step aside and allow the winner to peacefully assume his office.

And maybe 50 million still believe the lie that he was cheated.

If not for Mike Pence this American experiment in self government by the people would lay in ruins.

One of the reasons I believe this nation is blessed by and watched over by the Lord is Mike Pence respected the votes of the 81 million righteous people who voted for no more Trumps.

We have a decent man now as President.

And by the Grace of God next year the people will reclaim the House of Representatives.

Not only were Trumpists against vaccines for Covid they wouldn’t even wear little masks.
