Tom Hanks is nothing but a movie actor.  Of course he "doesn't get it".  Movie actors are generally quite stupid people.  On a good day, they memorize a few lines written by a talented writer, and speak those lines on camera.  Then, an editor puts these film "snippets" together to tell a story.

On a bad day, they are fornicating with whores in front of a camera making porn for the porn industry.

I don't know what Tom Hanks does.  I only know he's a dumb actor.  A 3-sentence script-reading bot for the movie-making industry to make gobs of money.
