You'd think I'd be good at that... with my record of picking stocks to go up.

I watch black rock..

They have 10 days to file 13g/a’s after the trade and they file them all around the 7th of each month.

I buy what they’re buying, sell in 3 weeks, and sit for a week waiting on the next round.

How do you find out what they are buying? When do they buy?

I find that when people think they can time the market, either a big rally or a crash, 70% of the time they are wrong. Why do you want to buy puts rather than just sell short?

If I thought there would be a HUGE downturn in the economy, I'd look at shorting Tesla and Amazon.

I am new at Puts, so I wanted to try it. My buddy does it and he has done pretty well.

Too bad he missed Apples 7-to-1 split.

I've sold calls against stock I own as a way to "ease" out of decent stocks I'm overweight in.  I don't purchase puts as I just prefer to sell short.  I've done well selling some stocks short.  But, I haven't screwed around with that recently. I'm pretty much a long investor. Buy good companies when they go on sale, and hold them till the cows come home. Or, until something fundamentally changes.

I don't like high P/E stocks.  Tesla's PE of 70 something is ridiculous for what that company is.  If the P/E ever got down to something in line with the other auto makers (GM is at 4.5), then I might take a look at it.  That is why it is close to the top of my list for stocks I'd want to short.

Be very careful listening to stock advice from "buddies". They are almost always wrong.

before a private company goes bankrupt, they cook the books and sell a billion shares. overnight the company is filthy rich. /// look at all that money in that stock, says the stock pimp. it is a bargain. stock sales pimp gets commission, you hold crap. /// stock market is so corrupt. /// you never know what you might catch. /// one thing is for sure, when it crashes, the whore-market takes all your money /// so spread your legs wide and enjoy the thrill.

remember the days of the corporate raiders? many companies had massive debts. but had lots of cash. but more debt than cash. corporate raiders would buy the stock company, loot the cash, and bankrupt the company. and the employees lost their retirement. /// when you invest into the stock market your investment does not give a crap about labor. it is all about your greed.

I pull their 13G/A filings from the SEC to find their trades, and compare to the previous trade of each stock to find if they are buying or selling.  I’ve got a program that does all this for me. It also pulls the prices at each trade.

The trades were made within the 10 days before the date of the filing.  They have 10 days from the date of the trade to file the 13G/A.

They filed their last 13G/A’s on 9/7, 8/8, 7/7, and 6/8.  They trade and file their 13G/A’s in monthly batches.

I don’t deal with 13G because the filing period is longer and I’m not interested in new holdings, only current holdings taht they are buying more of.
