It was not an unprovoked war.  Russia invaded Crimea, using the Wangner Group and covert Russian military, took it by force.  Then, Russia invaded Ukraine.  When one country invades another country and captures land and resources, I'd say that the invading country provoked the war.  Seriously, why is this even a topic?

Interesting. Whatever the case, Putin believed that NATO was going to use Ukraine to encroach on their border. Hence,  why they wanted Ukraine to become part of their alliance. I understand Putin's position. He was being proactive. NATO is evil. They have become too powerful and they have not used that power for good.

I don't really consider something an actual war unless a conflict arises. Russia took Crimea. There wasn't really a resistance to it.

it was an annexation in crimea. the fighting happened in other cities.

Ukraine and many other countries condemned the annexation and consider it to be a violation of international law
