When it comes right down to it, you chose your spouse. The person who will be at your side to deal with whatever life throws at the both of you. Your parents will eventually get sick and die. Your kids will eventually leave you. Your friends enjoy your company as long as you are fun to be around, but they never really love you.
So, if you are lucky enough to find someone you love enough, and who loves you enough to marry, then you've been blessed with the greatest gift God has to offer you in this life. Why would someone ever throw that away?

Both sides of the aisle may be surprised to learn statistics behind the family-values oriented Republican party. According to a 2014 report in the American Journal of Sociology, "red" states (states that tend to vote Republican), have higher divorce rates than "blue" states (states that tend to vote Democratic).

You can't blame the divorce rate on ***. They don't get married - not even to make babies.GHETTOBLASTER » 28 Sep 2023, 8:41 pm » wrote: ↑ There are so called Red States that have very Blue Cities within.
It is the very Blue Cities [usually full of ***] within the Red States that are guilty of enough society debasing issues to make it appear that the entire state is full of murderers, rapists, drug addicts, wife beaters, welfare recipients, lower education levels, etc.
Are you sure that same situation isn't going on with the source you just deposited here...?

That's why the nature of my post was a question rather than simply preaching to people why they should never get divorced. Sounds like in your case the primary factor was a step-daughter who was mentally ill. Your wife chose her daughter over you, but a daughter she had with someone else. That's really a shame. Mental illness, and "autism", whatever that means today. You've got to wonder if your X has any regrets over that, or if she ever came to doubt her daughter's claims?Neo » 28 Sep 2023, 9:13 pm » wrote: ↑ People change. People make choices. I've noticed as men get older- especially when they retire. They take over the cooking.Skans » 01 Oct 2023, 10:40 am » wrote: ↑ No man needs a woman to cook. What we need is for her to clean up after we're done cooking!

Another thing they tend to do- is take over the grocery shopping. They'll go in 5 grocery stores to score what they want- to save a quarter.
I've always chalked it up- to modern day Hunting.
