When it comes right down to it, you chose your spouse. The person who will be at your side to deal with whatever life throws at the both of you. Your parents will eventually get sick and die. So, if you are lucky enough to find someone you love enough, and who loves you enough to marry, then you've been blessed with the greatest gift God has to offer you in this life. Why would someone ever throw that away?

I'd have to agree - you damn sure dodged a bullet. Because once they level those charges, everyone looks at you sideways. The accusation is a mini-conviction.

That's why the nature of my post was a question rather than simply preaching to people why they should never get divorced. Sounds like in your case the primary factor was a step-daughter who was mentally ill. Your wife chose her daughter over you, but a daughter she had with someone else. That's really a shame. Mental illness, and "autism", whatever that means today.
