I hope liberals here will finally acknowledge that the economy's come back since the Clinton recession that greeted Bush's entrance into office.Yes, I will call it the Bush boom.Hey Puss? How did that Bush boom work out for ya?I have never in my life met someone so obnoxious, who claims to know everything about everything, and has been so consistently wrong.Unless maybe when you said 'boom' you meant like an explosion.Remember how in early 2008 I predicted a financial meltdown and you said:(RichClem @ Mar 28 2008, 12:58 PM)We aren't on the verge of a meltdown....Any idiot could see that Bush's home ownership policy created a huge housing bubble, and all bubbles eventually burst.

I hope liberals here will finally acknowledge that the economy's come back since the Clinton recession that greeted Bush's entrance into office. Yes, I will call it the Bush boom. Hey Puss? How did that Bush boom work out for ya? I have never in my life met someone so obnoxious, who claims to know everything about everything, and has been so consistently wrong. Hey moonbat, unemployment fell to 4.5% or so, below what most economists thought was possible. Yes, there was a boom for a few years. Do you have amnesia or something? And as most astute observers state, including reporters for the NYTimes, the Financial Freeze was primarily caused by Democrat-dominated Freddy Mac and Democrat-coerced Subprime mortgages. Even Barney Frank admitted this. Further, Democrats and one Republican obstructed Bush's many attempts to reform Fannie Mae, which would have prevented most of the problem. Bush's Fed policy played an important secondary role. Unless maybe when you said 'boom' you meant like an explosion. Remember how in early 2008 I predicted a financial meltdown and you said: Any idiot could see that Bush's home ownership policy created a huge housing bubble, and all bubbles eventually burst. "Any idiot?" Almost no one predicted it, liar. "Bush's home ownership?" Democrats almost entirely own that policy and have for many decades, liar.

Hey Puss! This is just like all your old threads now where you talk to yourself. You sure as heck won't show up when important issues are addressed that refute your bulls***. Re-inflating the bubble Obama hired back all the Clinton-era officials who caused the housing bust — so they can do it all over again By PAUL SPERRY In the 1990s, convinced that the US mortgage market was racist, the Clinton administration launched a massive campaign of social engineering. Through government entities Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, officials encouraged extending mortgages to people with little or no credit. They targeted private banks with discrimination lawsuits if they didn’t lend to enough minorities or people with low incomes. Housing prices skyrocketed as people with no down payment or shaky salaries suddenly were able to buy homes. Then the bubble burst. Millions were unable to pay their subprime loans, and they took the banks down with them. The housing market — and the economy — is still recovering from the folly. Now the Obama administration wants to do it all over again. Blithely ignoring the lessons of the housing bubble, Obama has rehired many of the Clinton hands who inflated it in the first place, pursuing the same misguided policies that try to force people into homes they can’t afford in the name of “fairness.” “The administration is launching subprime 2.0,” warns former chief Fannie Mae credit officer Edward Pinto. There are “affordable housing” mandates aimed at getting Fannie and Freddie to take on even higher-risk borrowers. Through the Federal Housing Administration, houses are being offered to some low-income subprime buyers with minimal down payment and heavy subsidies. The administration also is making it easier to sue a bank for not giving a loan, using a legal strategy called “disparate impact.” Officials don’t have to prove that the bank is being racist in its actions. If minorities are getting fewer loans than whites, even if there are good financial reasons for doing so, then the impact is unfair — and illegal.“It’s particularly galling that the people who are using the crisis to extend regulation are the same ones who sponsored the government policies that created the crisis,” said Peter Wallison, former member of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, a government group created to look into the causes of the 2008 crash. One banking official, ex-BB&T CEO John Allison, predicts that because of these policies, “There will be another incredibly destructive crisis in our financial system in the next 10 to 15 years.”....http://www.nypost.co...5dJQOBb2iNOPNxJ

Why don't you ever say that to Clem? Are you afraid of him? Hey, nice job at ignoring how Obama's policies will cause the next economic crisis. As I noted: you sure as heck won't show up when important issues are addressed that refute your bulls***.

Republicans Who Voted Against Sandy Aid Ask For Aid To West, Texas After ExplosionThe death toll and injury count in the West, Texas fertilizer plant explosion that took place last Wednesday continues to rise, with 35-40 dead and 60 still unaccounted for. Recovering from the disaster will likely take a lot of time and resources, and President Obama has already pledged federal assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other agencies. Some Texas Congressmen have also requested aid to help the victims and the town rebuild. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) said he is working to ensure that all available resources are marshaled to deal with the horrific loss of life and suffering that weve seen. Rep. Bill Flores (R-TX) has said that he, plus Senators Cruz and John Cornyn (R-TX), are working with Congressional leaders to extend necessary assistance. Cornyn has also said there is funding under his subcommittee for chemical site security standards and infrastructure protection.Yet when Northeast cities needed disaster relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, a storm that killed hundreds, all three Congressmen voted against the aid package.Read more at link in title.

Koch Brothers Plan To Buy Up Eight Major NewspapersThe billionaire oil moguls Charles and David Koch are pushing ahead with their plans to purchase several news outlets across the United States, according to a detailed report in the New York Times on Sunday. At a recent seminar in Aspen, one attendee reported that the brothers infamous for bankrolling conservative candidates and causes put forth the question of, "How do we make sure our voice is being heard?"Their answer, it seems, will be to purchase the entire Tribune company, which constitutes a huge swath of American print media.Read more at link in titleBad enough they already control many elected officials, now they want to control the media as well.

Bye Bye, Baucus! Enjoy Your RetirementGreat news this morning! Instead of inflicting six more years of bluedog madness on us, Max Baucus (D-Pharma) has decided the time has come to retire. Please, Max, don't let the revolving door hit you in the butt on your way out. This leaves the door open for Democrat Brian Schweitzer to step through, and also leaves leadership of the Senate Finance Committee up in the air, assuming Democrats hold onto their majority in 2014.As usual, the mainstream outlets like ABC News have framed this as a terrible, terrible thing for Democrats.Baucus, who has served in the Senate for 36 years, intends to make his announcement this afternoon. The decision surprised - and angered - some Democrats, given his vote last week against expanding background checks in the gun debate - a top priority of President Obama.Of course, Harry Reid could simply bring up the bill again if he chose to, and Baucus could now change his vote to one that appeared principled, even if it's just for appearances. Here's why I'm doing the happy dance: Obamacare. Max Baucus did everything he possibly could to make sure the Affordable Care Act was as complex as could be. When he was done making it complex and delaying the meaningful provisions for four years, he had the nerve to dress down Kathleen Sibelius last week for it being a "train wreck."Just for review, the House sent over a bill that had national insurance exchanges, not state-based. Their bill had a public option, it had better rate bands and it had a more coherent effective date schedule. After Baucus sat on it as long as he could, he rolled out a bill that ultimately became law which included state-based exchanges, less favorable rate bands, and then opposed all efforts to negotiate drug prices.I'm grateful the Affordable Care Act passed. But for him to sit in a committee hearing and dress down the people tasked with actually implementing it without giving so much as a wink and a nod to the insurers who are using every last loophole HE wrote into it to make it unnecessarily complex? It's classic Baucus and it's why I'm glad he's leaving.See ya on the other side, Max. I'm sure Big pHRMA has a nice warm seat waiting for you.Good riddance Max Baucus (D-Pharma).

Oh yeah, because Big Pharma is teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. They only made a piddling $83.9 billion in 2012. Asshat. Hey moonbat, the coal-generated electricity business was doing very well, yet Obama's driving them out of business one by one. The vast power of the federal government can easily crush even the biggest business. Imbecile. Hey Puss, How do you feel about the fact that Big Pharma has been systematically price gouging the Medicare program for seniors and people with disabilities, and raking in billions in excessive profits? Is that just the free market at work? Even assuming I accept your claim, since when is Medicare a "free market" program? Of course government programs will be abused by Big Business. Duuuh. That's why conservatives oppose massive government programs; because they end up rife with fraud, waste and abuse. Duuuh again. The fact that you are defending Max Baucus, just confirms to me what a POS he is. Translation into non-moonbat English: he's not a radical leftist. Say, how's that great Obama-care program going? Can you spell T-R-A-I-N W-R-E-C-K?

The fact that you are defending Max Baucus, just confirms to me what a POS he is.Didn't he vote for Obama-care?Then we're somewhat in agreement. Got a new smear of John Fund? No? Then I'm disappointed. Putting Lipstick on the Obamacare PigEven formerly enthusiastic Democrats now predict a “train wreck.”By John FundThe Department of Health and Human Services has just handed out a $3.1 million PR contract to improve the public image of Obamacare. Advertising Age reports that the firm Weber Shandwick will help “roll out a campaign to convince skeptical — or simply confused — Americans the Affordable Care Act is good for them and convince them to enroll in a health plan.” Obama officials insist the ads won’t be political, but critics recall that just before the 2010 midterm election, HHS spent $3.2 million on “educational” TV ads praising Obamacare. The spots featured the late actor Andy Griffith, a favorite of seniors, who told his fellow retirees that “more good things are coming” from Medicare. But FactCheck, a nonpartisan project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, noted that the ads made no mention of the dramatic cuts to 10 million Medicare Advantage recipients, who are likely to see their privately managed care scaled back. “The words in this ad ring hollow, and the promise that ‘benefits will remain the same’ is just as fictional as the town of Mayberry was when Griffith played the local sheriff,” FactCheck concluded in July 2010.Indeed, the facts today are that Obamacare remains as unpopular now as when it was passed in 2010, and Democrats are increasingly worried it will return to haunt them in the midterm election next year, the first to take place after the stepped-up implementation of the law. Reporters at the Cook Political Report, a respected Washington watcher of election trends, noted this month that “almost all” of the Democratic insiders they talked to “voiced concern about the potential for the issue to hurt Democrats in 2014.” At no point since its passage has Obamacare been viewed favorably by more than 45 percent of voters, and the latest Kaiser Family Health Foundation poll pegs its nationwide support at only 37 percent.West Virginia senator Jay Rockefeller, one of the main architects of Obamacare, calls the bill “probably the most complex piece of legislation ever passed by the United States Congress.” Referring to the implementation of the bill, he says, “If it isn’t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse.”Senate Finance chairman Max Baucus of Montana has an even gloomier assessment. “I just see a huge train wreck coming down,” he told Sebelius in a hearing last week. “When I’m home, small businesses have no idea what to do, what to expect, they don’t know what affordability rules are, they don’t know what penalties may apply. They just don’t know.”Some backers of Obamacare are even jumping ship completely. Kinsey Robinson, the president of the 22,000-member United Union of Roofers, issued a public statement last week calling for “repeal or complete reform of the Affordable Care Act.” He explained that his union’s “concerns over certain provisions in the ACA have not been addressed, or in some instances, [have been] totally ignored.” Many of the bill’s quickly drafted provisions, he added, “are inconsistent with the promise that those who were satisfied with their employer-sponsored coverage could keep it.”The train wreck that Senator Baucus foresees could push young people into “rate shock” as their premiums increase to subsidize care for older Americans. Obamacare’s “community rating” rules and benefit mandates might prompt employers to drop coverage or avoid hiring new employees. “I talk with a lot of businesses that are thinking of self-insuring or finding any loophole they can to avoid the most onerous parts of Obamacare,” says pollster Scott Rasmussen. A study last month by the Society of Actuaries predicted that medical claims per policyholder will rise by 32 percent in the individual plans offered by Obamacare’s health-care exchanges. In some states, the increase could be as much as 80 percent. The Obama administration is preparing for the worst. Michael Cannon of the Cato Institute reports that it is getting ready to spend $600 billion that Congress never authorized on federally run state exchanges in order to ease any sticker shock for consumers. But that may not be nearly enough. The administration is already preparing its excuses if insurance premiums skyrocket next year and parts of Obamacare miss key start dates.http://www.nationalr...k-obamacare-pig
